lan turned to the woman and glared at her. “I don’t care about your thoughts and predictions. Save one? Why would she need to save anyone? It is not going to be a conflict in which she has to pick between two options. It is all about her heart. Without a doubt, she will pick me out of everyone else. That’s my trust in her
Kaily stared at him without any reply. Her forehead was covered in wrinkles. Despite being sixty years old, her beauty did not diminish in the slightest.
Ian made his way back to the bar, but in the middle of the way, Ava’s friends approached him.
“Alpha, where is Ava? We can’t find her here.” Debra said, looking around.
Ian glanced in the direction where Dane had taken Ava a while ago
‘She still hasn’t returned?‘ he thought.
His blood boiled as he considered what Dane was doing with her. He had absolutely no trust in the man.
He turned and began to walk in that direction. His gaze fell on Freya, who was drinking like a madwoman. Her eyes met his as she raised a glass to him and gave him a sad smile.
He looked away from her and continued on his way to the rooms. His mind was going insane, thinking that he had brought her to this place. Here, all of the rooms were private for couples.
He heard Dane’s voice from the corner and walked toward the last room. He came to a halt when he realized the door was open.
He could see everything on the inside.
Inside the room, Dane was hugging Ava.
Ian’s heart tightened when he saw Ava hugging him back. He wanted to go inside and snatch her away from that man.
But he had to discard the thought when Ava spoke.
“Dane, you know I have a soft spot for you in my heart. Why did you do that?”
Ian felt like a bucket of cold water fell over his head. Were they confessing to one another? She was asking why he had slept with Freya. Was that supposed to mean she wanted to be with him?
“I am sorry, Ava. I want to apologize to you. I will do everything to make up for it. From the day we met at the airport, I have always thought about you. I felt I should not have broken Freya’s heart. But I also know that you are meant to be with me, Your father selected me as your groom years ago. That was why I left everyone behind and approached you.”
Dane held Ava and ran his hand through her hair.
From where he stood, Ian could see Ava’s face. She closed her eyes, seemingly enjoying the warmth of Dane’s embrace.
He fixed his gaze on the woman he loved more than anything in the world.
He was not mad at her. He was angry at himself for allowing her to leave years ago. It appeared that no matter how hard he tried to pursue her, she already had someone else in her heart.
Dane broke the hug and cupped Ava’s cheeks. “So? Have you forgiven me? Can we go back to how things were?”
Ava stared at Dane for a while as if she was thinking about it. She lowered her head and mumbled,
“It will be difficult for me to forget, but I forgive you for everything Yes, we can go back to how things were.”
Dane chuckled and ruffled her hair while looking at her with a soft gaze.
Ian tightened his fists to control his emotions. He leaned back against the wall next to the door and closed his eyes.
“Since everything is clear now, let’s go and cut the cake.”
Ava let out a soft chuckle and said, “With a smile on your face, Alpha Dane. Don’t forget to smile all the time.”
They both laughed together. Ian clenched his jaw and walked away before they came out.
Ava’s soft chuckles and words for Dane kept replaying in Ian’s mind as he kept walking back to the party.
When his friends noticed him, they tried to approach him. He did not talk to them as he made his way to the front door.
He stopped at the door and turned his head to the old witch, who looked at him.
He took a deep breath, looked away from her, and left the party.
After a minute, Ava and Dane returned to the party. Before they could reach for the cake, which was in the middle of the hall, Carolina approached Ava.
“I have something for you.”
Dane gave Ava a nod to allow her to speak with Carolina before walking toward the cake. Ava left behind and asked Carolina,
“Yes?”
Carolina pulled out a book from her bag and handed it to Ava.
Ava’s eyes widened when she saw the book.
“The Mystery of Alpha’s Rejection!”
Ava immediately held the book in shock. Carolina gave her an upset smile and uttered,
