When Ava got in the car with Dane, she did not have a chance to wait and talk to her friends. Her inner thoughts caught her, asking her to run toward them and explain everything.

However, when Dane’s driver opened the back door and Dane signaled her to enter his car, she had no other option but to follow him.

The way back to the new office was not long. Dane selected the new office a few blocks away from Ian’s company. As she was sitting silently on the seat, she felt Dane’s gaze on her.

She did not dare to move to look at him. She knew what he was thinking.

“Did you know about Freya’s silly decision?”

She heard Beta Bruno’s voice. She looked over at Bruno in the front passenger seat. He had his head turned to her and was looking at her.

Ava was not sure if she should say yes or no.

Bruno narrowed his brows before saying,

“You were aware, but you chose not to inform us. Nice!”

There was an anger she could feel in his voice. Bruno clearly did not like Ian because he was his Alpha’s rival.

More importantly, she understood that Bruno did not want his sister to be a pawn in their rivalry.

Ava turned her head to cast a glance at Dane. He was staring at her. Perhaps he was also waiting for her response.

“Dane, I…”

She was at a loss for words.

“Did you know?” he asked with a cold tone.

His tone made her shiver. He did not usually talk in a cold tone toward her. Last night, they had a little argument because of her mother; now it was because of Freya.

She took a deep breath and tried to explain.

“I got to know about it a few days ago. Alpha Martin invited my entire family to a family gathering. That night Ian introduced his fiancée to everyone. I was shocked to see her.”

Dane looked away from her and turned to look outside the window.

“Did she look forced to do anything?”

Ava shook her head. “No. In fact, I had a conversation with her.”

“What did she say?” Beta Bruno asked.

Ava remembered her conversation with Freya. They only talked about the two Alphas. Their relationship with both men was the same. They were their ex–boyfriend’s girlfriends.

“She told me not to tell you anything,” she muttered to Dane.

She was not lying. It was the reason why Freya did not tell anyone about Ava’s secret because she was keeping her secret from Dane and her brother.

Ava observed Dane carefully. His angry expression was gradually becoming calmer. In the darkness, his dark eyes dimmed.

Ava was shocked by his words. She expected him to say that he would talk to her or something.

She was well aware of Dane’s animosity toward lan. There was no way he could accept Freya’s relationship with him. It was not true that she was a free woman. Her whole responsibility was under Dane’s control. Her father gave control to him before leaving this world.

Beta Bruno complained as he turned to look at him. Dane ignored his groan and focused on the landscape.

The whole day Ava passed in the new office. Dane gave her a new cabin to work. The important employees were there to help her.

He was adamant about winning the competition. He did not like to lose any deal.

Ava did not talk to him about last night. She remembered both the confession and her response. Since Dane did not talk about it again, she chose to ignore it for today.

It was late in the night.

Ava thought to go back home. When she came out of her cabin, she noticed Dane was also leaving.

He offered to drop her off at home. She accepted his offer.

When they arrived at her house, the car remained silent.

Ava turned to face Dane. She had so many questions in her head. She was confused.

However, she did not forget what her mother had told her yesterday. Her father wished for her to wed Dane.

She did not feel burdened after hearing that last night. But tonight, she felt a little insecure in her heart.

Did he let go of Freya, or did he still think about her?

“Want to ask something?” he inquired, turning his gaze to her.

She nodded her head and asked,

“Do you still love Freya?”

Her question took him off guard. Later, his expression changed, and he frowned at her.

“Why did you ask me that?”

She turned away and murmured,

“Just asked.”

She could feel him getting closer to her. When she felt his breath against her cheek, she gulped.

“The answer is, I like you now.”

Her voice caused tingling in her ear. She blushed hard.

A smile appeared on her lips when she realized that he was clearing it to her that she was the only one in his life

now.
