Wiona could hardly wait to get her claws into the Thompsons.
Staring at Ryan’s back as he led the Thompson ladies away, Wiona grabbed Conrad’s hand. “Let’s go.”
The two of them slipped out of the banquet hall unnoticed. By the time anyone realized they were gone, word had already reached the Blue family elders.
“Grandpa, do you think Wiona followed the Thompsons?”
As the most mature one of his generation, Mateo immediately sensed trouble.
Was it just a coincidence that one of the Thompsons had bumped into Wiona, and then she and her husband vanished right after them?
Mateo was worried something might happen.
But Grandpa Stephen just shot him a look.
“What are you panicking for?”
“Mateo, that’s not the composure I expect from you.”
“Remember, this is the Blue family estate.”
“And besides, you boys have only one sister. Your grandmother and I have only one granddaughter.”
“If anything happens, and you boys can’t handle it, I will.”
“Stop worrying about nothing. Go and entertain our guests.”
Mateo looked at his grandfather, stunned.
He’s only just acknowledged his granddaughter, and he’s already spoiling her?
Oh, Grandpa. You never used to be like this.
The Blue family’s rules were famously strict and fair, a fortress of regulations for both public and private matters.
His grandfather never showed favoritism to any of his grandsons, let alone any of his sons.
Even the family inheritance had been settled long ago. It was to be divided equally among his three sons and his late daughter.
This made any infighting among the Blue family heirs pointless. Even if you won, you wouldn’t get an extra cent.
