Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 677

Luckily, all the emergency equipment was already on the scene. Even if it was just for their own reputations, the doctors and nurses threw themselves into saving her, doing everything they possibly could.

But after half an hour, Bronwen still hadn’t come back.

The riverbank was packed with people watching. No one said a word. Even though the summer heat was stifling, everyone felt a cold chill run down their backs.

Wiona stood at the very front, staring as Bronwen’s face turned a sickly blue and white, the color of life never returning. She knew it was over. Bronwen had never wanted to survive. Or maybe she’d just lost the strength and the courage to keep going…

A heavy, icy sadness welled up inside Wiona. She wrapped her arms tightly around herself, then turned and leaned into Conrad’s arms.

“Let’s go.”

“Conrad, I can’t watch anymore.”

Conrad tightened his hold on her shoulders and whispered, “Okay.”

They squeezed through the silent crowd. Suddenly, someone gasped. Wiona looked back, hope flickering for a split second…

One day later, at the hospital.

Louisa sat outside the ICU, staring at the floor. A shadow fell over her. She looked up and saw Wiona standing there. For a long moment, she didn’t move.

“What... what are you doing here?”

“Did you come to see how pathetic I am?”

“My dad and mom are both in intensive care. Nobody knows if they’ll make it. And everyone knows what my dad did.”

“I don’t even know if surviving would just mean another kind of hell for them.”

“I know they deserve it. Honestly, I probably do too.”

“But Wiona, I really don’t want you to see me like this.”

Louisa turned away, unable to meet Wiona’s eyes.

Wiona sat down quietly beside her. She handed Louisa a USB drive.

“If I came here just to laugh at you, I wouldn’t have bothered to come at all.”

“Your dad had it coming, but your mom didn’t deserve to die.”

“And no matter what happens with her, I had to give you this.”

“It’s her last words. She told me herself after you left yesterday.”

“You should listen to it.”

Louisa’s hands shook as she took the USB. She clutched it tightly.

“She’d rather say it to you… than to me…”

“So she really made up her mind to leave me.”

“Why does it have to be like this… why?”

Wiona stayed quiet for a moment, then said softly, “Think about your mom. All these years, her obsession with your dad is it exactly the same as what you’re feeling now.”

“If you keep putting someone else first, you’ll end up losing yourself, just like she did.”

“Louisa, you and I were never really friends.”

“But as someone who’s just passing through your life, let me give you some advice.”

“It’s not a bad idea to give yourself a little more love.”

With that, Wiona stood up and walked away. After a few steps, she paused, remembering something.

“When your dad wakes up, I’ll come back.”

Things between her and Wilson still weren’t finished.

When Wiona got home from the hospital, she found Tatum had come by. He’d brought Madison along with him. The two of them gave their names at the gate of Hawthorne Hall, and Phil personally came out to greet them.

“Ms. Morgan, it’s been a while,” Phil said to Madison first, then turned to Tatum, nodding with respect. “Hello, Mr. Blue.”

“You’re both family to Mrs. Hawthorne. Please, come inside.”

Even Tatum, who was used to big occasions, looked surprised. It was clear that even the butler knew who he was, which meant Wiona must have made a point to tell them after she returned. Her straightforwardness caught him off guard.

It wasn’t something that needed to be hidden, but the way she welcomed them made something in Tatum’s usually cold and guarded heart soften, just a little.
