Wiona’s heart skipped a beat.

“What’s going on?”

Conrad came out of the room too. When he saw how rattled Wiona looked, he turned to Phil. “What happened?”

Phil didn’t dare hide anything. “Cassian is okay.”

“But it’s his daughter. There’s been a problem.”

“When our people arrived, Summer had already been taken away.”

“It was her ex-husband who took her.”

“Cassian got so upset, he was rushed to the hospital. He’s stable for now.”

“Our team is following them.”

“Ma’am, should we try to get Summer back?”

Wiona didn’t hesitate. “Of course we have to find her.”

“Phil, send more people. I want Summer back safe and sound.”

Phil nodded hard. “You can count on us.”

“In Stonehill, there’s no one the Sullivan family can’t track down.”

With that, Phil hurried off to handle things. Wiona was left pacing, her nerves shot.

Conrad glanced at her. “Should we go see Cassian at the hospital?”

“Yes, I want to,” Wiona answered right away. “Conrad, I need to go into town to see Cassian.”

“But at home...”

Madison and Tina had just arrived, and Wiona felt awful for leaving them hanging. They’d barely had a chance to catch up before she had to rush off.

Annette stepped in just then. “Wiona, I know you’ve got something urgent. I’ll be here.”

“I’ll take good care of your friends. Don’t worry.”

“Conrad, you should go with Wiona.”

Conrad was already planning to go. Staying behind with two guests would be awkward anyway. It was better to leave everything to Annette.

“Mom, we’ll leave things here to you,” he said.

Madison could tell this was important, and though she was a little disappointed, she understood.

She took Wiona’s hand and said, “I really wanted to talk to you about something, but this is more urgent. Go take care of it.”

“Let’s meet up again in the next couple of days when you’re free.”

“Oh, and mom and Kyle sent gifts for the babies.”

“I’ll give them to your mother-in-law later.”

“You can open them when you get home.”

Wiona nodded, apologized to Madison and Tina, then got in the car and headed straight for the hospital.

“Wiona, we don’t have any power or influence. If you hadn’t helped Summer, she never would’ve gotten this far.”

“He knows we’re powerless. There’s nothing we can do.”

“All I want now is for Summer to be safe. I don’t want her to fall into that monster’s hands again...”

“I’m scared he’ll drag both her and our grandson back to Easton Heights...”

Wiona tried to remember. “If I’m not mistaken, Summer’s ex’s last name is Tucker, right?”

At the mention of the name, Cassian’s eyes flashed with anger. “He’s Scott. The only grandson of the Tucker family from Easton Heights.”

Conrad spoke quietly. “Korey mentioned this to me before.”

“He said you had a friend who needed to borrow a lawyer from Sullivan Group for a divorce case.”

“The man being divorced is the Tucker family’s only heir in Easton Heights.”

“I knew right away this would be tough, so I had Korey assign Kason, our best divorce attorney.”

“If this had stayed in court, Kason wouldn’t have lost.”

“But now it looks like Scott’s playing dirty.”

Wiona looked confused. “Who exactly are the Tuckers? Cassian said they’re powerful. Is it really that serious?”

Conrad nodded. “In Easton Heights, they’re a big deal.”

“They made their fortune in antiques. Later, when the country was in trouble, they donated a huge sum to help out.”
