Kellen clutched her stomach and screamed, “I’m pregnant with your child! Are you seriously going to kill me right now?”
“Jace, you can’t do this!”
“We’re already married. This baby is the Salisbury family’s only shot at turning things around.”
“You can’t… you just can’t…”
Jace’s hand froze in the air. Humiliation and shame battled in his mind, but in the end, the interests of Salisbury Corporation yanked him back to reality.
“It’s over! Everybody out! Now!”
“This wedding is done.”
He couldn’t hold back his fury. He shouted, waving his arm, and that ridiculous ceremony finally fell apart for good.
When he snapped out of it, Bianca had vanished. Even Isaac hadn’t seen her slip away. Jace’s heart pounded as he tried to find her.
But right then, Daniel suddenly collapsed on stage.
“Dad—”
Isaac rushed over, panic rising. The old man couldn’t just die of rage, not now. Salisbury family wasn’t finished yet. His cold glare flickered before he put on a mask of urgent worry.
Wiona was tucked safely in Conrad’s arms as the guests were ushered out. There was no dignity left for the Salisburys. Today’s scandal had dragged them into an even deeper pit.
From now on, the Salisbury family would never be able to hold their heads high. They had become the laughingstock of Stonehill, maybe the whole country. Climbing back up would be next to impossible.
Conrad took in the chaos, then looked down at the woman in his arms. “Feel better now?”
“I have a feeling this show isn’t really over yet, is it?”
Wiona glanced up at him, eyes shining with appreciation.
“Of course not.”
“This doesn’t even compare to what they did to me before.”
She stroked her belly gently. “I’m just giving them back the truth.”
“Let’s go. Time for the next move.”
She took Conrad’s hand and followed the crowd out.
When the last guest left, the big screen finally went dark. The whole ballroom was pitch black. The wedding hall, once so perfectly decorated, was a wreck.
Everyone was gone.
Daniel had been sent to the hospital with Isaac. Even the other Salisbury family members shook their heads, sighing as they left, too ashamed to stay.
Only Jace and Kellen were left in the ruins, unable to pull themselves away.
Jace collapsed to his knees. His eyes, cold and full of hatred, locked onto Kellen’s terrified face.
“Why did you lie to me?”
“Why?”
