“But… you know how things turned out. I gave her my love, but she took advantage of me.”
“I’m not going to hold a grudge. I’ll just accept that our connection is over.”
“But you know she’s sick in bed now, barely able to get up. My family called and said she hasn’t been eating since the holiday… she’s not doing well at all.”
“All because I didn’t go back to the Clements house this New Year. They say she’s gotten so thin, she’s almost a different person. She keeps telling everyone I’ll never forgive her.”
“I… I’m not going back to forgive her, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“It’s just… my last name is Clements, that’s my family home…”
“I can’t really just walk away and pretend I don’t care.”
“I just want to go check in on things, okay?” Annette’s voice was soft, almost like she was scared Wiona would mind or get upset.
Lately, Annette had finally started patching things up with her family. She was a lot closer to her daughter, and as for her son… well, she was putting that aside for now. But her two grandkids were her whole world now.
She really didn’t want any more misunderstandings with Wiona.
Wiona just smiled. “Mom, of course you should go.”
“You’ve always been free to come and go, and besides, that’s your family.”
“I can’t keep you all to myself.”
“Just don’t stay too long, okay? Alice and I will be waiting for you to come back.”
Annette squeezed Wiona’s hand, clearly touched. “Okay, okay, I promise,” she said over and over. “You’re such a wonderful girl. I don’t know how I got so lucky.”
“Now I finally have something to look forward to.”
When Annette left with Tim and Jim, life just went back to normal for Wiona.
She took the chance to finally send Tina the designs she owed her.
This batch was a whole set of nature-inspired jewelry, really different from anything Wiona had done before. A real leap for her.
“Tina, I’m not sure if people will react to this the way they did with my other stuff,” Wiona messaged.
“Just think of it as an experiment.”
Tina replied almost instantly. “Don’t worry! There are already celebs in the industry lining up to wear your pieces!”
“Just wait till we have them finished. We’ll reach out to some of the hottest young stars, ask if they want to wear them to a big event or something. Sales and hype won’t be a problem then.”
“This time, we should make more pieces and do a bigger release.”
With Tina’s enthusiasm, Wiona just let her run with it.
She only reminded Tina to try to finish her other design first.
