Alora POV 

Adoption, no this can’t be right. 

There must be some kind of mistake. 

My brain shifts through thousands of memories I shared with them, from the earliest I could remember up until their deaths. 

Trying to find anything…anything that might give me more insight. 

But all of my memories, happy or sad, are of them. I was their daughter and they my parents. 

There is nothing that, unless I had discovered this certificate, would inform me otherwise. Not once did I ever feel as if I didn’t belong. 

That I wasn’t theirs. 

My mind feels heavy, a heavy weight on top of my shoulders. That is becoming increasingly more difficult 

to carry. 

The more I try to think about this turn of events, the more I struggle to actually shift through the hundreds of thoughts coming to me all at once. 

I can’t think clearly, all I know is this piece of paper changes everything…everything I knew about my life. 

About my parents. 

Even the adoption has been dated as my birthday, so I could have been month’s old by the time they brought me home. My birthday being a complete lie. 

I have two choices… 

I can put the certificate away and pretend I have never seen it. 

Or.. 

I can take it to Medea and ask her about it. 

Ask her what she knows. She has to know something. 

No Alpha and Luna would allow a pack couple to adopt without their approval. Even down to becoming a pack member, they must of made me a member the moment I arrived on their pack grounds. 

Medea would know, she must know. 

My wolf is stirring, she wants answers just as much as do…and I plan on getting them. 

I’m flat out running, a stitch forming in my side, but I don’t stop…adrenaline is fueling me, 

My panting must be loud, I am getting plenty of strange looks from the pack members that I pass. 

Even Freya, she looks at me as I run towards her and Zane, as they stand outside the alpha house. Her

eyes wide as she stares at me, as if she was questioning my sanity. 

But things were making sense and I was starting to think clearly for the first time since reawakening. “Alpha, she’s here.” Zane shouts before his voice trails off, his eyes looking down at me in disbelief. “Where the fuck have you been, I was about to send out a search…..what are you wearing?” 

Than is now looking at me with the same look as everybody else. He was mad, I had been gone too long and he was worried. 

His hand grips my arm as he pulls me into the alpha house, into the main entrance hallway. 

“Than…I need to speak…where is Medea?” I’m out of breath, my stitch has me bent over massaging the side of my stomach. 

Medea was right to stop my exercising earlier before it had even started. I really am still recovering. 

“She’s gone…” 

“That’s right to see Alpha Damon…I need her to…” Both Zane and Freya walk in, their eyes continuing to look at me oddly. 

“Than, I found this in my boxes….this certificate.” 

“Boxes?” His eyes flash to Freya, a warning look of impending punishment for me finding them. 

“I followed her, Freya has done nothing wrong. I was talking to your mother when I saw Freya moving my boxes out of the house. I found the boxes and went through them…Than I found this.” 

My breathing is still uneven as I place the certificate in his hands. 

“What is it?” He looks at me perplexed at my current behaviour. 

It was unlike me to disappear on him but he can’t deny what I have discovered and what impact that will have on me, on us. 

“Read it, its an adoption certificate…in my parents name…for me.” 

“Adoption…no that can’t be right. You were born into this pack.” 

“I would have only been a few months old. I need to speak to your parents…I need to find out the truth.” 

Than doesn’t seem to be as interested in this as I am. He just keeps looking at me, his eyes going up and down as if I were in a halloween costume in the middle of the summer. Then it clicks…I probably look the part. 

I didn’t take of the wedding dress. 

We stand in a self–enveloping silence before Than seems to remember where he might have seen this dress before. 

On his wedding day. 

“Do I remind you of her?” I take the certificate out of his hands and gently roll it up for safe keeping. This can’t be damaged…can’t be burned. 

“Of who?”

Alora POV 

“Of your wife?” 

I couldn’t keep quiet anymore. He needed to know that am aware of what I have woken up to. 

That he married another. 

Than’s eyes remain on me constantly, his teeth flashing slightly but I don’t doubt for one moment who they are meant for…not me that’s for sure. 

She took something from him, something he needed back. 

“Out! Both of you out!” He roars at the beta couple, kicking them out of the alpha house and slamming the door behind them. 

“I want to know everything…” 

“Everything.” His hands remain on the door, his head twisting back to look at me. 

“You claim to love me…” 

“I do love you.” His roar is deafening as it echoes down the hallway. I can hear Freya gasp from the other side of the front door before Zane orders her away. 

It’s too late to hide away from this now. I was only starting to realise what this adoption certificate could mean. I couldn’t go back to before, I have to let him know that I know. 

“You claim to love me, yet you married another…” 

“It wasn’t like that.” He moves away from the door, his hand now pinching at the bridge of his nose. He never liked arguing with me, or I him. 

But I have to get this off my chest, no matter how uncomfortable it makes him. 

“You married another, whilst I was in my coma.” 

“I had the pressure of the pack, of my parents needing an heir…” His hands find mine instantly, placing them together and pulling them to his chest. To his beating heart. 

“But Than, she looks like me, she is me…look…” He could have picked anyone, yet he picked a person with a striking resemblance to me. As if I were still looking back at him. 

I walk us into his office, reaching into this top desk drawer and pulling out a photograph of him and Kaia on their wedding day. Of her wearing the same dress I am now dressed in. 

“How did you find this?” A slight growl rumbles in his chest. Perhaps he was feeling guilty for not burning it himself. He accuses me of keeping a memory…yet he keeps this…but now wasn’t the time for me to bring that up. 

“I found it in your desk drawer…” I bite my lower lip waiting for his alpha aura to crash into me. I shouldn’t have looked through his things, I know this. 

“You went through my things…”
