Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2262

The sky outside had already turned dark, and the world beyond the window had quieted down. Inside the room, with just the two of them, Marlon felt a sneaky little devil starting to stir in his mind.

But Marlon knew better than anyone else—this was just a game. A game he had whimsically decided to play.

The more innocent Athena appeared, the stronger his wicked urge grew to spoil her purity.

Even if this woman was truly his sister, so what? In his room, anyone could become his.

His eyes trailed down from her collarbone, all the way to her feet.

She was wearing a pair of thin slippers, and her feet peeked out, pale with a hint of blush.

He pulled his gaze back, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.

"Something's come up, and I need to head out tonight to take care of it," he said.

In his mind, he made a decision. If he returned in a few days and Athena was still this captivating, he wouldn’t hold back. He'd deal with his grandmother’s questions later.

"Marlon, can I come with you?" Athena asked, her voice almost pleading.

He was taken aback by her clinginess, a smile tugging at his lips. "Where do you want to go?"

"I don't want to be apart from you. I've forgotten so much, and I only feel safe by your side. Or is there another woman already in your life?"

"No, there isn’t. You can come with me, but you have to promise not to be scared."

After all, they were about to face some bloody business.

"I won’t be scared," she assured him.

Marlon, always one to push boundaries, decided to let her tag along since she seemed so determined.

Once they were both in the helicopter, Athena closed her eyes for a rest.

Marlon was busy with his phone, until a burst of noise on the other end made him frown.

"What’s going on?" he asked.

There was no reply, so he ordered the helicopter to land.

Once they touched down, he scooped her up and carried her out.

He glanced at the city lights stretching into the distance, then back at the house with its single lit window. That strange feeling returned.

He shut his eyes, willing himself not to get too caught up in this.

It was just a game. No need to let it become anything more.

When the helicopter reached the coast, the ship was already waiting there.

He entered the ship’s secret meeting room, finally focusing on the task at hand.

“What happened?” he demanded.

“Boss, someone intercepted our signal. We tracked them, but they were quick to disappear.”

Marlon’s team consisted of top-tier talents, so if they couldn’t trace the signal, the opponent was no slouch.

He felt a wave of irritation. Such challenges used to thrill him, the back-and-forth of wits.

But now, all he could think about was getting back to her.
