Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2227

Maggie seethed with resentment. She’d always looked down on Athena, never imagining the day would come when the person she despised most would be the one to bring her to her knees.

Damn you, Athena! If you make my life hell, I’ll return the favor—you won’t have a moment’s peace, either.

Her eyes burned with rage, and for a moment, she wanted nothing more than to storm out and confront Athena, consequences be damned.

But she forced herself to stay calm. Abner was still here, and she couldn’t afford to lose her composure.

Eventually, Maggie was escorted away.

On the other side of the estate, Athena—still using her alias, Anna—rested quietly in Tyler’s arms. Tyler assumed she was shaken by everything that had happened and tried to comfort her. “Just stay home and rest for now. Looks like Maggie and Marlon’s wedding is off. I have no idea why Grandma Edith suddenly took your side.”

Athena kept her eyes closed and managed a faint smile, guessing that Grandma Edith was probably already rushing to get a DNA test done.

She was right. Grandma Edith had abruptly left her guests behind, sent Marlon’s father home, and arranged for a paternity test without a second thought.

Marlon’s father, Lucien Keller, had spent most of his life working abroad in a highly confidential field. It was rare for him to be home at all.

“Mom, what on earth is going on?” he asked, puzzled.

Lucien’s wife had died young, her health broken after their daughter was stolen away; she never recovered, and grief claimed her soon after. Perhaps that’s why Grandma Edith doted on Marlon all the more.

“It’s nothing, Lucien. Stay home for a few days. I can’t say anything until we get the results,” she said, her tone firm but gentle.

Lucien knew his mother had never given up hope of finding the girl they lost all those years ago. Over the years, several imposters had come forward, but Grandma Edith had seen through every single one.

“Mom, DNA results can be faked,” he said, still wary.

“Not this time. This time is different!” Grandma Edith’s face was alight with joy. Then, as if recalling something special, her lips curved into a smile. “All those girls Marlon brought back before, I knew right away they weren’t the one. Back then, I held my granddaughter as a baby—she had a distinctive red birthmark shaped like a flower on her upper thigh. None of those other girls had it. Only I knew about it. But the girl who was pushed into the water at the wedding? I happened to see it. I quietly took a strand of her hair for the test. The DNA confirms it—she must be my granddaughter!”

Lucien still looked skeptical. “Mom, it seems awfully convenient to run into her at the wedding. And that birthmark—how could you have seen it just like that?”

“This can’t be rushed,” he continued. “We should do more tests. Or better yet, invite the girl over and meet her together.”

Grandma Edith nodded, her certainty unshaken. After all, the girl was already married to Tyler—there was no way she could slip away now.
