Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2222

The next morning, Lindsay reheated the leftovers she’d packed up the night before and helped her little brother into a fresh set of clothes.

Honestly, her brother was a good-looking kid.

She reached out, ruffling his hair. After all these years, after everything they’d been through, they were both just victims of circumstance.

She had no reason to hate him.

“I’m leaving now. You take good care of the kids, alright?”

“Linds…”

He trailed after her, step for step, just like all those times she’d headed off to work before—him trailing behind, wide-eyed and anxious.

With a steely resolve, Lindsay closed the door behind her, scooped up her bag, and turned to Athena.

“Let’s go.”

Athena glanced at the closed door and drew a deep breath.

“Lindsay, you’ll be staying in Greenfield for at least two months. Are you sure there’s nothing else you want to say to your family?”

A faint, bitter smile tugged at Lindsay’s lips. “Did you see the look on his face? What’s the point in explaining? But don’t worry. The oldest kid already knows how to cook. If my brother lets me down, the kids can fend for themselves. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have made it this far.”

Athena let it drop. The two of them set out for Greenfield.

The whole trip had set them back three days, and Lindsay had left things on a sour note with Tyler.

During those three days, Tyler didn’t reach out to her, and she couldn’t be bothered to contact him either.

Athena had visited an old doctor for some advice and ended up with a birthmark on her thigh identical to Lindsay’s.

Not only that, she memorized every single mole on Lindsay’s body and carefully replicated them on her own skin.

Lindsay was timid—there was no way she’d have the nerve to go directly to the Keller estate. She’d never been through anything like this, never even set foot in a big city, and in front of Marlon, she’d crumble in minutes. Athena’s plan was simple: she’d go herself.

She’d slip in under the guise of the missing Ms. Keller, become Marlon’s long-lost sister, and get close enough to strike when the time was right.

She found Lindsay an apartment near Tyler’s place, even collected a lock of Lindsay’s hair and a vial of her blood—just in case someone decided to run a DNA test.

Once everything was in place, Athena waited for her chance.

“Oh, just running a bit, watching a few movies—nothing special.”

Tyler glanced at her. Maybe it was his imagination, but she actually seemed to be in decent spirits lately.

He didn’t give it another thought and soon brought her along to the ceremony.

The Olson and Keller families joining together was a big deal—plenty of VIPs, all the city’s most influential faces.

Athena immediately spotted Lily in the crowd, her face twisted with resentment and a sly, cold smile playing at her lips.

Athena knew exactly what Lily was up to. She was so transparent, it was almost funny.

The wedding was held at the Keller family’s ancestral home, the ceremony set in the garden beside a beautiful pond.

Athena stood by the water’s edge, wearing a short dress—despite Tyler’s annoyance before they left. She brushed him off. She wanted to wear it, so she did.

Just then, she felt a pair of hands shove her hard from behind.

There was a splash—Athena hit the water.
