After saying this, he flopped onto the bed, not even bothering to glance at her.
Athena pressed her lips together, feeling a stubborn streak rise up within her for reasons she couldn't quite pinpoint.
"Fine."
She really didn't want to stay here any longer. The moment she laid eyes on Elsa, a whirlwind of memories flooded back, leaving her feeling overwhelmed and confused.
Her head throbbed painfully, and she wanted nothing to do with any reminder of the past.
Tyler let out a derisive snort. Walking from here to the base of the hill would likely take until dawn. Nobody was willing to give her a ride, and who knows what might happen on the way—maybe even a run-in with a boar.
This area was well-known for its untouched wilderness, and wild boars were a common sight.
If she wanted to risk it, that was her choice, and there was no one else to blame.
Tyler flicked off the lights in the room and closed his eyes.
Athena had already dressed and made her way downstairs.
A few people were still hanging out downstairs. Bert and Elsa were already locked in a kiss, despite Elsa not being Bert’s original date. Clearly, they had swapped partners.
Seeing Athena come down, Bert released Elsa. "Hey, Athena, feeling better now?"
Athena nodded and made a move to head out.
Elsa immediately stood up and followed her outside, clearly having something to say.
"Athena!"
Elsa finally caught up with her in the courtyard.
"So now you're Tyler's lapdog. What about Kerwin? He never showed up for any of the reunions. I want to know where he is. Did he leave the country after you ditched him? You're unbelievable, Athena, leaving a good man like Kerwin for someone like Tyler. Honestly, Kerwin must have been blind to have ever fallen for someone like you!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Athena spun around and slapped her.
Elsa's head whipped to the side, her expression one of disbelief.
"You dared to hit me?"
Athena's eyes were icy. "Talk about me all you want, but leave him out of it."
Elsa burst into laughter.
