Chapter 1194 Lennon's Hardships
Cherise shook her head fiercely. "I can't fathom it!"
"Why did he opt for such extremes instead of staying alive with Lulu?" Her voice trembled with anguish.
"He no longer desires Lulu, or even Alexis, all because of... all because of the corrupt individuals in the Belcourt family?" Her words echoed with dramatic disbelief.
When Mom passed away, her final words echoed in her mind like a haunting plea: to embrace joy and avoid the path of bitterness and wasted days that had marked her own life.
She couldn't shake the belief that her mother's existence had been marred by an unyielding grasp on old grievances, leading to a life of sorrow and regret.
Now, Lennon's decision mirrored that of Mom in the past.
"You may not realize how Lennon has endured all these years."
Damien gently took the glass from Cherise's trembling hand and drew her close, tenderly wiping away her tears.
"He always wears a smile and seems carefree on the surface," Damien began softly, his voice carrying a weight of sorrow. "But deep down..."
"In his childhood, Lennon's family was the wealthiest in Brandyville," Damien recounted, his gaze distant as he recalled the tragic tale.
"Yet their ties to the Belcourt family made them targets. His parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts—all lost in that inferno."
"You might wonder why the Belcourt family wiped out his entire family but spared him," Damien mused, his voice tinged with solemnity.
"Following the tragedy, he became the sole heir," Damien explained softly. "The Belcourt family adopted him, renamed him Gray, and inherited his family's wealth."
"The current wealth and status of the Belcourt family are built on the blood of the Lenn family," Damien concluded, his words heavy with the weight of history and betrayal.
Cherise was left speechless.
"Given all that, wouldn't you feel hatred toward them if you were Lennon and learned the truth? Wouldn't you want to bring them down with you?" Damien asked softly.
Cherise was at a loss for words. If she were in his shoes... she knew she would.
"But..." Cherise hesitated, her voice tinged with conflict. "Lulu and Alexis..."
"At first, he was hesitant to let them go, too."
Damien sighed softly, his voice carrying a weight of understanding. "All this time, Lennon and Lulu struggled with communication."
"Now that Lucy is married," Damien continued with a hint of resignation, "he believes she can finally find happiness. There's no cause for worry."
Cherise's fingers clenched tightly together. After a moment, she lifted her head with determination. "I need to tell Lucy right away!"
"It won't make a difference," Damien replied somberly.
Damien tightened his grip on her hand. "Lennon has already made his move, and everything is playing out just as he intended."
"If you tell Lucy now," he added with solemnity, "it will only compound her anguish."
