Dangerous Love: You Are My One and Only Bride novel Chapter 259

Arianne relaxed after hearing her answer. They ordered their meal before Tiffany began her report on her findings at the mailing address. “By the way, I’ve asked a lot of neighbors around that address. According to their physical descriptions, the man who’s always lived at that exact address was George Levin. However, they don’t know his full name because they didn’t talk a lot. They’ve heard a young man call him ‘Uncle Sloane’ before, but they couldn’t be sure. Perhaps he was calling him ‘Uncle Levin’ too.”

“Someone took this George Levin away three years ago, and he never returned. I suspect that he may have changed his name. He lied to us. He is Mr. Sloane! If we take a step back and say he isn’t Mr. Sloane, then that Mr. Sloane in that letter can’t possibly be unrelated to him. Who’d use George Levin’s address to send a letter for no apparent reason? Either George Levin is Mr. Sloane, or he’s acquainted with Mr. Sloane. I’ve asked my private investigator to investigate this. Let’s eliminate the possibility of whether George Levin’s changed his name or not.”

Arianne felt a little more at peace when she heard this. “How about this, if it’s still early after dinner, we can go to the convalescent home again? This thing has been prodding at me like a thorn. I can’t eat or sleep in peace until it’s settled.”

Tiffany nodded. At this time, their meals were served. She was already hungry. She grabbed her cutlery and chomped it all down. She hadn’t had a good meal since her investigation at the mailing address yesterday.

Arianne’s heart ached at the sight of her like this. “Take it easy. There’s a lot of food on your plate. We can always go to the convalescent home tomorrow after work if it’s too late. You’ll get indigestion if you keep eating like that.”

Why would Tiffany care? She’d been feeling like a gyroscope ever since her family ran into trouble, spinning and spinning non-stop—working on one end, then taking care of Lillian on the other. Survival was most important to her at this point; she had disregarded everything else long ago.

George stared at them but did not seem surprised. He stayed in his chair. “My surname isn’t Sloane. I know that you’re looking for Mr. Sloane. Yes, I know him, but he’s dead. He had cancer and died long ago. Please don’t come again.”

Tiffany walked towards the window and absent-mindedly said, “A dead man can’t write letters. Don’t you agree?”

George looked at her. “He wrote that letter long ago and asked me to send it out for him. I’ve only just managed to remember this matter. I’ve heard from my neighbors that you went looking for Mr. Sloane at my old home. I used Mr. Sloane’s name in the letter so that you would stop looking for me. You can’t find a dead man. You can forget about finding out anything from me. Mr. Sloane never told me anything. I just want to live my days out here. I’m sick and won’t live much longer. Please don’t disturb my peace again.”
