Tiffany had been lectured so much that she had already gotten used to it. She plugged her ears with her fingers and said, “Didn’t you always like my character? Otherwise, why didn’t you find yourself someone who’s well-behaved? Didn’t you say you like me?” Without waiting for Jackson’s reply, she rambled on, “Anyway, do you think Tanya and Jett are only married because of her pregnancy? In this time and age, it’s quite common for accidental pregnancies to end up being aborted. Jett’s not from a wealthy family so it’s not like he’s in need of an heir. I wonder what’s going on with them? I’m slightly worried that Tanya’s alone in the hospital.”
Jackson was not interested in the matter so he made his way into the kitchen after he said, “We’ve already done what we can, the rest has nothing to do with us. You should stay out of their business.”
Tiffany pursed her lips and silently waited for Jackson to finish cooking.
When he was done, she wolfed down her food. Then, she began to yawn. She did waste any time and made her way upstairs to sleep. It seemed like pregnancy really made one get easily exhausted.
...
At the hospital.
Tanya did not have any of her possessions on her. Since her phone was not with her, she had to borrow a nurse’s phone to contact Jett.
It was not until midnight that Jett finally answered his phone.
Tanya wanted to tell him everything that had happened but quickly dismissed that thought after thinking about it. She ended up saying, “I’m out, and I left my phone at home. There’s no need to worry if you don’t see me when you get home.”
Jett said emotionlessly, “Why didn’t you just say you’re in the hospital? I only found out when I called the number you called me from and the nurse told me you’re here…” He had felt something was amiss and had redialled the number she had called from. After all, she had said she was at a friend’s place… He knew she no longer had any friends left.
Tanya lowered her head. “I was worried that you’re busy and didn’t want to bother you. Didn’t you tell me previously that if you’re busy, you won’t be able to answer my calls?”
Jett turned on the night light that shone dimly in the darkness. “Just be honest with me if there’s any problem in the future. What if something happened to you? Are you hungry?”
She could no longer suppress her tears as they streamed down her face. Her visions turned blurry. “You’re not obligated to take care of me. I know very well we’re only married because of the child. That’s why I try not to be a bother to you. I thought I’d be able to take care of myself, I didn’t expect this to happen. I was terrified when I fell in the shower. I was afraid I would die along with my child. This child is the only family I have left in this world.”
