Belinda examined Audrey closely, trying to find traces of her elder sister, Tiara Fisher.
Apart from the aura, Audrey did not look like Tiara but rather her brother-in-law.
The aunt and niece stood facing each other, locked in silent mutual gaze.
After a long pause, Audrey calmly said, “Madam Fisher, please have a seat.”
Belinda slowly walked toward Audrey and said, “You resemble my brother-in-law. Yes, you looked more like your father when you were young. Lisa looks more like my eldest sister.”
“What do you mean by this, Madam Fisher?” Audrey inquired coldly.
Belinda smiled and replied, “Drey, I believe there are many things you’re already aware of, the rumors circulating in Jensburg. You can’t possibly be oblivious to them.”
Kevin stayed for quite a while in Jensburg.
There were rumors about the two daughters of the previous Fisher matriarch in Wiltspoon.
Even her own daughter, Caroline, secretly came to Wiltspoon to inquire about the situation.
After half a month in Wiltspoon, she had gathered all the information she needed.
What truly convinced her was the rarity of the Fisher surname in Wiltspoon, and among the young women who matched her niece's description, Audrey was unquestionably the most appropriate candidate.
This belief was cemented by Audrey’s astute and competent performance in the business world, an exact reflection of Tiara.
In the past, had it not been for Tiara giving birth and being overwhelmed by both business and family matters, which left her with insufficient time to regain her health, Belinda might not have had the chance to overthrow her sisters and assume the position of the head of the family.
Audrey maintained her unfazed demeanor and responded, “Yes, they all say we’re one family, except for my sister and I. They believe everyone except us both, perished at your hands, including my little aunt.”
Audrey knew Belinda would not confess; not even a murderer would be foolish enough to admit thein crimes.
Several decades had passed since the incident. She was only a little girl when the upheaval in her family happened. Now, she was already in her late fifties. Even if she wanted to gather evidence regarding the incident, it would be a challenging feat.
“Most rumors are false, but usually there’s no smoke without fire.”
Maintaining her calm mien, Belinda said, “Drey, if you believe those rumors, you would have fallen for their scheme in sowing discord. Now that you are an influential mistress of your own house, you are free to investigate this case if you wish. If you find any piece of evidence that points to me being your parents’ murderer, you can send me straight to jail.
“I was raised by your mother. Although in a biological sense, she was my sister, she was like a mother to me. She loved me as if I was her daughter. How could I, with a clear conscience, ever harm my sister, who showered me with motherly love?
“When the incident happened to your family, I was out dealing with various matters. I was careless, I was too busy with work that I did not look after you and your sister, which led to you being abducted by the nanny. It was my fault, my negligence that had caused this. I am sorry for what happened to you sisters and your mother.
“But I never stopped looking for the both of you.”
