Liberty took the letter.
The lawyer was here on behalf of Jessica.
The cases that Jessica was involved in still had not reached their verdicts, hence she was not allowed to see anyone. Even if she was sentenced, Liberty was not her family or her guardian, so she could not visit either.
Therefore, she wrote a letter to Liberty and asked her lawyer to deliver it.
Jessica had given up. She never wanted a lawyer but her family somehow got her one.
She thought it was probably because of the house that Hank inherited.
Hank added her name to the deed, so she owned half of the house.
Her family got her a lawyer maybe because they wanted to help her get a lighter sentence, or maybe they were after her assets. She and Hank had no children for as long as they were married.
When she finally got pregnant, she tripped and lost the baby.
Even without the baby, Jessica had lost hope for the future. She could not see the light in her dark life. In the end, she picked up the knife and hurt Hank.
With some assets under her name, when she died, her assets would be given to Hank and her parents, but if she set up a will to give all her assets to her parents, and Hank died, her parents could still get everything.
Jessica did not want to think of her parents like that.
However, she could not see kindness in anyone anymore. Anyone who approached her must have a hidden agenda or simply wanted to use her; no one cared about her.
“Ms. Hunt, my client wishes that you can read the letter now. After that, please provide your answer and I will relay the message to her,” the lawyer said.
Liberty said, “If that’s the case, why don’t you come in and have a seat. I’ll have a look at the letter.”
The lawyer agreed.
Liberty brought the lawyer back to her office.
Duncan’s sharp gaze landed on the lawyer and he knew the man was here on behalf of Jessica.
Jessica said she regretted it. She should not have messed with Liberty and Hank’s marriage, she should not have become the third wheel in their relationship.
If she had rejected Hank when he tested her the first time, or resigned and left the company, changed her job and fell in love with another man who had no relationship problem, her life would not end up this way.
She made one mistake and it snowballed into a massive tragedy in her life.
Jessica stated clearly the motivation behind stabbing Hank, which Liberty already knew.
In the end, Jessica apologized to Liberty sincerely.
She said she could not apologize to Liberty in person, so she could only express her apology through the letter. She hoped that Liberty could forgive her.
She had gotten what she deserved and her life was over.
If Hank could not make it, she would follow him to hell as well.
