Cross My Tigress Face the Wrath (Stella) novel Chapter 916

Dan had a bad feeling, but he picked up the file anyway.

As he read, the veins on his forehead bulged, his already furious face contorting with rage.

"Find out where Yvonne is staying. Now."

"Yes, sir," Carroll replied.

Just as he said it, Dan's phone rang. It was Leroy.

"Dan, the Boss wants you at Blacktower immediately," Leroy said.

"You can tell him I can't solve this!" Dan retorted without a second thought.

Things had spiraled completely out of control. The crisis hitting Black Gate was incredibly complex—so complex that Dan was struggling to even understand how it had all started and how it had gotten this bad.

"But, sir, he…"

Dan had no patience for Derek. His relationship with his father had been strained for years. It was almost laughable. For years, he'd barely see Derek twice a year, but now that Black Gate was taking a beating, suddenly Derek wanted to acknowledge him as his son.

As if that could erase everything that had happened.

Carroll returned with Xander and Yvonne's location. Dan pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to soothe a throbbing headache. He stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and stood up.

...

Yvonne's side.

The stress of the past few weeks had killed her appetite. She'd barely eaten a decent meal. Now that the Susanna situation was finally resolved, she was determined to treat herself to a good dinner.

But just as she arrived at the restaurant, she saw Hull walking out.

He was carrying a bundle in his arms, wrapped in his suit jacket. Yvonne couldn't make out what it was.

What was that? Wait a minute, in Hull's arms…

Yvonne's gaze fixed on the bundle, her eyes narrowed as she tried to get a better look.

"I'm not kidding! I'm sure it was a woman."

Xander raised an eyebrow. The way she said, 'I'm sure it was a woman,' sounded anything but sure. It was obvious she hadn't gotten a clear look.

"Well, it couldn't have been a dog, right? Or a man?" Yvonne reasoned, her voice trailing off.

Now she was just talking nonsense. Hull hated pets, and while he was never short on female company, he wasn't the type to carry a woman around.

"Ugh, what is with him?" Yvonne muttered. "What does Susanna even mean to him?"

"Hmm?" Xander grunted.

"He was going crazy trying to get Susanna back from Black Gate, but… wait, my brain is fried. Are you telling me Hull was never actually into Susanna? Then what was this whole mess about?"

Yvonne's thoughts were a complete jumble.

Xander wasn't faring much better after her chaotic train of thought.
