Hull reached over, ruffling her hair with a smile. “Isn’t that exactly what you’ve been hoping for?”

“Oh, it’s more than I hoped for,” Susanna beamed. Just picturing Derek—always so cold and untouchable—finally getting a taste of his own medicine, made her feel pure delight. “It’s perfect. The villain finally gets what he deserves. Isn’t that just poetic?”

Elsewhere, Dan was still fuming about his run-in with Yvonne, barely listening as Anders tried to talk some sense into him.

“Why do you keep picking fights with Yvonne?” Anders sighed. “With her temper, aren’t you worried she’ll just explode and scorch you to ashes?”

“It’s not like I set her off on purpose!” Dan snapped, his chest tight with anger. “She’s the one who keeps going after me—trying to beat me up! What was I supposed to do?”

“I’m just saying,” Anders said gently, “when she starts yelling, maybe try not to talk back.”

Dan stared at him, incredulous. “Are you even hearing yourself? She screams at me, beats on me, and you’re standing here telling me I can’t even defend myself?”
