Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 595

"A while ago. I saw you sleeping so soundly, I didn't want to wake you," Sean said, folding the newspaper. He looked at Evander. "You've got some patience, kid."

Evander smiled faintly. "I'll take that as a compliment."

Charlotte put a hand to her forehead. She couldn't believe her nap had made her miss so much.

"Dad, are you hungry? I can go get you some dinner."

Before her father could answer, Evander spoke up. "I've already ordered dinner. I can have it sent over anytime."

"So fast? How did I not know?" she asked, bewildered.

Sean feigned a look of disdain. "You were sleeping like a log. How would you know anything? By the time you woke up, I would've already finished eating."

Charlotte gave an embarrassed laugh.

Sure enough, not long after Evander made a call, dinner arrived. Judging by the logos on the containers and bags, it was from a high-end restaurant known for its healthy cuisine.

Sean looked up. "You're a thoughtful kid. You even knew to order low-salt and low-oil dishes."

"My grandmother also has high blood pressure," he explained. "She's always careful about her diet, so I've picked up a few things."

At the mention of Rosemary, Charlotte lowered her eyes, lost in thought.

Sean noticed her expression. After a moment of contemplation, he said while sipping his soup, "After you two get engaged, you should go visit Rosemary."

Charlotte froze.

Evander also paused abruptly.

"What's wrong, you don't want to go? You'll be engaged. If you don't visit, it wouldn't look good for the Howard family to say the Rayburns raised an ungrateful daughter."

Though he framed it that way, it was obvious he had given his approval.

Evander fought to contain his elation, keeping his voice steady. "There's no rush. We'll wait until you've recovered."

Sean said nothing more on the matter.

Late that night, Julian arrived to take over for Wesley, explaining that he was still working overtime. It wasn't just Wesley; the entire finance department was pulling an all-nighter, combing through last year's accounts.

Chapter 595 2

Evander's eyes flickered with surprise. After a beat, he asked, "What?"

She lowered her voice. "I'll stay at your place tonight."

His chest rose and fell heavily. "Are you sure?"

"You don't want me to?" Charlotte started to turn away. "Then I'll just go—"

Chapter 595 3

Charlotte looked down, her voice a low hum. "Now you're the one hesitating."

He smiled but said nothing.

Back at his hotel, Evander led her to the master bedroom but stopped at the door. "You can sleep here. I'll take the guest room."

Before Charlotte could process his words, he closed the door and left, as if afraid that if he stayed a second longer, he'd have a very different idea.
