Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 548

Quincy’s fiery anger cooled as Shane's words sank in. He was well aware of how much the patriarch was favoring Caleb lately. The old man was handing over all the family's major and minor affairs to Caleb, while he, his own son, was left out of the loop.

Caleb had already secured the massive Southeast Asia project. If he also managed to arrange a marriage between Sean Rayburn's daughter and Zachary Chase's adopted son, all of Quincy's efforts would be for nothing.

He calmed himself, his jaw tightening. "So what's your plan?"

"Since your little secret with my mother is already out, there's no point in hiding it anymore."

Quincy froze, his fingers unconsciously clenching his phone until his knuckles turned white. "Are you insane?"

The voice on the phone was laced with a cold, cruel persuasion, each word like an ice-tipped needle piercing through his chaotic thoughts. "Sacrifice a pawn to save the king. Isn't that what you've always done so well, Quincy? Just like you did with Kate."

Quincy's throat felt dry. His heart hammered against his ribs.

He had thought he was crazy, but he never imagined Shane could be even more unhinged.

"She's your mother. Are you sure you want to do this?"

Shane scoffed. "If she had to choose, do you think she would choose us? In the Rayburn family, sentiment is the most useless thing of all. I think you know that better than I do."

After the call ended, Quincy traced the edge of his phone, his face a dark, menacing mask.

He admitted he was ruthless.

But that kid, Shane, was far more vicious than he was. For now, he was glad they were allies. If they were enemies…

But whether they would remain friends or become enemies in the future was anyone's guess.
