Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 546

After the funeral, Charlotte and her father followed Mr. Rayburn to the hospital. In the room, only Kane was there, trying to comfort a distraught Loretta.

"What did the doctor say?" The patriarch asked Caleb.

"It seems she's suffering from a mental breakdown, likely brought on by the shock of her mother's death."

Mr. Rayburn glanced into the room, his expression unreadable. "The Rayburn family has had more and more trouble lately. I just wonder who's behind it all."

He took a deep breath, showing no intention of going in to see Loretta. Instead, he turned and gave an order. "Let her biological father stay with her. Just post a guard here. Make sure she doesn't try to harm herself again."

As the patriarch passed Sean, he stopped. "Sean, I need to have a serious talk with you."

Sean nodded. After Mr. Rayburn left, he looked at Wesley. "Make sure you get Charlotte home safely."

"I know."

Sean left with Mr. Rayburn and the others, leaving only Charlotte and Wesley in the hallway. Wesley went into the room to check on Loretta, but Charlotte waited outside.

About ten minutes later, Wesley emerged.

As they left the hospital and got into the car, Charlotte, who had been silent for a long time, finally spoke. "Wesley, did you know about Uncle Quincy and Hulda all along?"

Wesley's hands froze on the steering wheel as he turned to look at her.

"The recording Aunt Kate left behind… it was evidence of their affair."

Wesley's brow furrowed. "Did anyone see you take that evidence?"

"I don't think so," she said, pausing for a few seconds before continuing. "But I ran into Uncle Quincy at the spa. Could he have been there for the same reason?"

"Where's the recording pen?"

"I left it at home," Charlotte said.

Meanwhile, at Midvale Estates.

The housekeeper answered the doorbell to find none other than Quincy standing outside.
