Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 523

Lilith waited in the hallway for a short while until Charlotte emerged. She hurried over. "How did it go?"

Charlotte let out a breath of relief, holding up the documents in her hand. "Success. I couldn't have done it without you!"

Lilith walked beside her. "I can't believe you and Faith had already met. It just goes to show, having a connection makes everything easier!"

Charlotte looked down at the papers, silent. It was true: no matter the industry, connections were everything.

Back at the research institute, Charlotte handed the project file to Judd. Gentry, standing nearby, picked it up and flipped through it. "You got it done already?" he asked in surprise.

Before Charlotte could answer, Lilith crossed her arms. "When my sister-in-law is on the case, nothing is impossible."

"Wait... sister-in-law?" Gentry looked at Charlotte. "When did you become her sister-in-law?"

"She's..."

"Evander is my cousin, so what's wrong with me calling her that?" Lilith challenged, hands on her hips.

"Oh, so you're cousins from the Howard family. My apologies," Gentry said with a dismissive smirk, turning back to Judd. "And you agreed to let someone like this join us?"

Before Lilith could explode, Judd replied calmly, "Even if I hadn't agreed, she would have found a way in on her own."

Lilith shot Gentry a smug look. The tension between them was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Charlotte winced. "Actually, it's thanks to Lilith that we were able to secure the investor this time," she explained.

"What kind of investor could she possibly find? I've never even heard of this Faith person..."

"That's because you live under a rock," Lilith shot back. "Of course you wouldn't know her. Faith is a retired national figure skating champion. Not to mention, she's also The Old Marshal's hand-picked daughter-in-law!"

Gentry just made a noncommittal sound, clearly unimpressed. Lilith couldn't be bothered with him either and turned away.
