Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 417

“My brother, he…”

Before Yolanda could finish, Judd’s call came through. She picked up and answered, “Don’t worry, bro. I’ll make sure Miss Sterling gets there safely.”

Whatever Judd said on the other end, it left a trace of regret on Yolanda’s face. She responded quietly, then hung up.

Charlotte tried again, “You were saying earlier…”

Yolanda just smiled. “That’s a secret you’ll have to ask my brother about yourself.”

Charlotte let it drop.

As soon as Charlotte returned to the hotel, she ran into two men in the hallway.

She recognized them instantly.

A second look reminded her—they were the two officers assigned to keep watch over Tricia.

Charlotte brushed past them, glancing back as they entered the elevator, her mind wandering. She let herself into her suite and found Evander standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, with Natalie at his side.

“Will you be visiting Miss Winthrop today?” Natalie asked.

Evander didn’t notice Charlotte had come in. “It’s time I saw her.”

Expressionless, Charlotte walked right past them. Natalie turned at the sound of her footsteps. “Ma’am…”

Charlotte ignored her and went straight to the bedroom.

Evander’s gaze lingered on the closed door in silence.

The next morning, Charlotte and Evander sat across from each other at breakfast as usual. He didn’t mention yesterday, nor did he offer any explanation.

Not that she cared for one.

She sipped her soup, pausing in surprise—the taste was mild today, just the way she liked it.

Jacques woke late and strolled in, glancing at the table. “Going healthy on us today?” he joked to Secretary Holden.
