Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 274

After the patient’s family left, he turned to meet her gaze. “What’s wrong?”

She snapped out of her thoughts, forcing a smile as she changed the subject. “Do you know the patient’s family?”

He nodded. “They’ve been my patients before.”

“No wonder…”

“No wonder what?”

She grinned. “I was just wondering who was so considerate as to draft the entire treatment plan for me.”

Judd looked at her, about to reply, when a nurse approached. “Professor Carstairs, there’s a Ms. Winthrop here to see you.”

Winthrop...

Charlotte’s brows knit together.

Tricia?

Judd caught the subtle shift in her expression and suddenly asked, “Should I see her?”

She blinked, puzzled. “Why are you asking me whether you should meet her?”

He teased, “Aren’t you two close friends?”

Charlotte didn’t answer.

He let the topic drop. “Aren’t you even curious what she wants from me?”

Honestly, she wasn’t, but Judd’s tone piqued her curiosity just enough.

Judd agreed to see Tricia.

Charlotte was still around, though she stayed in the office restroom.

Tricia’s smile froze. Jonathan hadn’t been exaggerating—Judd really was impossible.

“Mr. Carstairs, do you have something against me?” she asked, putting on a vulnerable, almost wounded expression.

Charlotte recognized that look all too well—Tricia’s go-to move with men. It certainly worked wonders on Evander.

“Let’s get one thing straight,” Judd said coolly. “First, I don’t even know you, so what could I possibly have against you? Second, you tracked me down at The Carstairs, and now you’ve shown up at the hospital. At first, I thought you were a critical patient in desperate need of help. But now, it seems you do have a problem, just not the kind I can treat. Still, if you’d like, I could prescribe you something.”

Tricia choked back a retort, her lips twitching. “...That won’t be necessary.”

There was no saving face; if she kept pushing, it would only get worse.

She turned to leave, but out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a shadow moving in the restroom—a slender figure, clearly a woman.

So he’s hiding someone away in here, she thought bitterly. No wonder he turned me down.

After Tricia left, Judd finally spoke. “Are you going to stay in there all day?”
