Kieran's pov
I sat in my office, my eyes fixed on the documents. It had been a long time since the work had been pending, since I had to deal with other things but it was high time I worked on it.
“Fuck! How the fuck do I let them get to this point before attending to them?" I thought, groaning lightly. It's like I never learn.
“We had other important things to deal with." King said. Spending time with our mate was definitely more important.
There was a slight knock on my door, taking my attention of the documents for a minute and that was very much needed.
"Come in..." I called and the door creaked open, revealing my Beta and Gamma. The two of them entering together was never good news.
“Alpha." They said, bowing their heads before taking the seats on the other side of the table.
I turned my head back to what I was doing and Caleb did the same, as if he wasn't the one who dropped there in the first place.
“I had the guards release Ida from the dungeon earlier," Caleb started. “She made quite a scene." He finished.
My hand turned into a fist at the mention of her name. She made Kaia cry and deserves everything she got in the dungeon. I'd totally forgotten she was even there in the first place.
Ryder snorted, resting his back, “You forgot about her, didn't you?”
I shrugged, “hopefully being in there taught her a lesson."
No one touches what's mine and go scout free!
“It probably did. But the first thing she did was mind link her father.”
I paused, wondering what this was all about. “Is there a particular reason you're going around the actual reason you're here?" I asked, in a haste to get back to work.
The faster I completed my work, the faster I get to return to Kaia.
"Well, the elders want to see you." He finally said.
His words caused me to pull my gaze away from the work that was on the table, and then finally face him.
"The elders?" I paused, furrowing my brows. "What do they want this time?"
I turned my gaze to Ryder who shurgged his shoulder before I turned my gaze back to Caleb.
"My guess is that her father might have reached out to the elders, hence the reason why they're calling for a meeting." Caleb replied.
“Good, I have a few things to discuss with them too." I said, pulling out files that contained the list of things they have been doing that went against the rules of our world, with proof of each one.
“With the look on your face, I can tell they're in for a treat.” Ryder smirked, amused by the situation.
Before I could give him a response, the door burst open and a familiar figure stood at the door, a small smile on her face
“Mom!" I called, my voice a mixture of surprise and confusion as to why she was here now instead of in two days.
"Good evening, Luna." Caleb and Ryder greeted her, but she waved them off, eyes fixed on me.
As if knowing what she wanted, they bowed, walking out of the office, leaving the both of us alone.
“You're not supposed to be here now, where's dad?" I asked, after the greetings were done.
“I wanted to surprise my son, can't I do that?"
“Of course, mother."
"You can keep her, but she will not become the Luna of this Pack. You need a strong mate to stand by your side.
Keep her? Putting her through the exact thing that sent her away from her former pack? Breaking the trust that took me weeks to build and all because of what?
“I don't need a strong mate…”
"Our mate isn't weak!” King growled.
"She's mine, and I don't care what you or dad thinks, she's not going anywhere.” I finished.
Disbelief was written on her face. I've never gone against her or my dad but in the past few minutes, that was the only thing I've done.
"Can you hear what you're saying? You don't even care what I or your father thinks. You have no idea what you're doing, do you? Tell me, way did that rogue do to you, whY did she give to--"
"Mom!" I called, and she stopped talking.
"I have told you what I have to say. I will say it to whomever wants to hear it.”
Already tired of repeating the whole thing, I went towards the door. “I have work to do, mom. I'll come find you when I'm done."
Her jaw clenched, but ignoring her, I pulled the door open and I froze.
Kaia was standing there and from the expression on her face, she heard my conversation with my mom. “Fuck!"
"Kaia..." I muttered, but she shook her head, and ran out of the office, leaving me with my mom.
I turned towards my mom, "We'll talk about this some other time," I told her, running after Kaia.
"Kieran! Come back here, we haven't finished. You have to listen to me…” My mom called, but I was already gone.
