Chapter 27
Allie's POV
(When Ryder brought her home)
Ryder was glaring at me through the rearview mirror, and I shot him a defiant look. He was angry for whatever reason when it should be the other way around. He'd literally thrown my partner off the dance floor and then dragged me away.
“What the hell were you thinking?" He growled, his voice low once we hit the road.
“Dancing? Having fun? You should try it sometimes." I retorted, glaring back at him.
His expression darkened, “I’m being serious, Allie. What if something had happened?” He asked.
I shifted uncomfortably, thinking about that possibility but since I didn't want to give him the satisfaction he was looking for, I just shrugged.
“I can take care of myself."
He let out a growl, his hand tightened around the wheel as he let out a string of curse words which I just ignored. The rest of the drive was quiet but I didn't miss the way he kept turning to look at me.
Once we got to the pack house, where Kieran was carrying a drunk Kaia, trying to keep her steady as she wouldn't stop moving, he shot me a glare.
“Take her to her room, and make sure she doesn't choke." He commanded Ryder.
He nodded, “yes Alpha."
“I can go to my room by myself, I'm not drunk." I argued, but it fell on deaf ears. He held my hand, sending shivers down my spine.
“Can you stay still?" He snapped, his voice sounded like he was holding back yelling at me.
“If you let go of my hand, I will." Taking a deep breath, he let go of my hand and I calmed down.
If I really wanted to move on, thinking about his touch against my skin, his voice, or anything about him wasn't the way to go about it. And the more he held my hand, the more I forgot the fact that I was trying to move on.
“You can go now." I told him, when we got to the front of my room, but he ignored me. “Ryder, I'm fine here." He flinched at the full use of his name.
“I'm not leaving until I'm sure you're settled in." He stubbornly says, crossing his hand in front of him and resting his wall against the wall to prove his point.
‘I’m going to be fine once you leave.”
"Where's your key?” He asked instead, his obvious frustration covering the hurt that flashed through his eyes.
I was the one rejected, not him.
Bringing out the keys from my pause, I opened the door and made my way inside. Ryder's footsteps were closely behind me.
I went to my dressing mirror where I took my wipes to take off my makeup with Ryder watching me. But some minutes into it, he left, my eyes following him, my heart breaking as he left.
“This is why you don't fall in love, Rhea." I said.
“He's holding back as much as we are." My wolf replied, and I scoffed.
“Yea right!"
“I can sense it." She argued. She couldn't talk to his wolf since we weren't mates.
“Well, I can see it, and he definitely doesn't look like someone who's holding back." I told her, the same time Ryder reappeared, holding a glass of water.
“Drink this." He said, handing me the cup.
"And you do? You know what, I don't care. I'm going to find someone…”
His eyes darkened when the words left my lips. He pulled my chair until there was barely any space left between us. My heart raced, pounding against my ribcage. I forgot for a moment how to breathe, as I stared into his eyes.
“R-Ryder," I stammered, "what are you doing?” I asked, my voice barely audible.
He didn't respond, instead his lips came crashing on mine. I froze, unable to respond, until I felt him starting to pull away. I wrapped my hand around his neck as a moan escaped his lips.
The kiss was anything but soft, it was hard and needy but it was perfect. He pushed his tongue past my lips and he let me take control of the kiss before taking dominance.
We deepened the kiss, his hand pulling me from the chair until we were both standing. He let out another growl when his hand touched my bare skin, sending shivers down my spine.
His lips trailed kisses on my neck and I bit back a moan. My hand reached to undo his belt but he held my hand and I frowned.
“You're going to regret it when you're sober." He murmured, his voice was low and husky.
I scoffed, “if I was going to regret anything, it was wasting an opportunity to feel all of him." I thought.
"I'm not, and I'm sober.” I told him. I barely took a bottle and I could handle my alcohol. Besides, I've had enough time to clear my head.
He pulled back, and I missed the heat his body provided. When he saw whatever he was looking for in my eyes, he connected our lips and this time, he didn't stop me when I reached for his pants.
He helped me with my top once his trousers were off and he gently led me towards the bed as his hand caressed my body.
Moving on just got a lot harder
