Chapter 140
Kieran's POV
I was angry…no, mad. My eyes darkened and I could feel the veins on my neck popping out. King was struggling to take over and rip my mom to pieces. I couldn't believe she would go to that extent to make sure Kaia was out of the picture.
Kaia's grip on my arm was the only reason I was still in the office and not on my way to their house.
“Bella–” My voice came out strained. Watching my sister in that condition and the fact that it was supposed to be for made my blood boil.
“Listen to me," Kaia said, her voice equally angry which threw me off balance for a few seconds. “I know you want to deal with your mom in the worst way possible and I'm on the same page with you.” She continued.
Caleb, who was standing a few feets away from me nodded at what Kaia said and so did Dylan.
"But we have to come up with a plan…I doubt your mom knows anything about spells and going after her without a clear plan would ruin our chance of getting the main people behind this.”
That calmed me down, I needed to think straight without all the anger I was feeling at the moment. Wrapping my arms around her, my head rested in the crook of her neck, taking in her scent which calmed both King and I. And soon enough, we were ready to deal with it.
I didn't miss the relieved sigh that left Caleb's lips once he saw my face was back to normal.
“Alpha, I have a plan.” He said, and I nodded for him to continue.
Kaia was right, even if my mom was out of the picture, the real person would get away with it and come up with something even stronger.
"To get the real culprit, we have to throw in a bait." Caleb explained. “Since the spell is going to lead the victim right to the source, we might as well take advantage of it."
“I can–" Kaia started and my head snapped to her. As much as she calms me, I swear she was going to be the death of me.
“Bella, don't." I started, my voice low. “I'm not going to send you as bait, so you can put an end to that ever happening."
She wanted to argue but I shot a glare at her. Even if that was the last option, I still wouldn't do that.
“Yes Luna, we can't risk that.” Caleb said and she slumped against the couch, murmuring something about how it was worth a trial.
I listened to the ideas and no doubt it was going to work.
“I can go instead…”
While that seemed like a better idea, I needed him to deal with something else. This time, there was no sparing anyone and it feels like that was exactly what I have been doing all this while.
“I don't care what you do, get my mother here. Lock her in the dungeon until I return.” I ordered and I saw a wave of determination flash through his eyes.
“Yes Alpha."
Without spending much time…we didn't have much of that, especially after the spell had been activated once and any more delay would give away the fact that something had gone wrong with it, so we came to a conclusion.
Dylan was going to be the bait while myself, alongside the witch, whose name I found out was Elizabeth, and some other warriors. Caleb on the other hand was going to bring my mom back to the Pack house, a decision that was long overdue.
“Be careful, okay." Kaia said, a hint of fear in her tone.
I nodded, “I will. Stay far away from my mother once Caleb brings her back."
“I don't have a death wish." And although her voice was light, the sheer determination that appeared on her face, put my mind to rest.
Immediately Dylan ate the cake, the same thing that happened to Allie started happening and we prepared to move. Caleb was the first to leave as I had to gather the warriors.
“Well, he looks comfy." King said, and I snorted.
“Hand him over." I said, calmly.
They looked at each other and back at me. The one who was holding Dylan was the first to talk. “You h-have to f-fight us first." He said, throwing Dylan to the ground. And I wished he at least sounded confident.
King didn't waste any time as he took over, ignoring the fear in their eyes, we approached them and not giving them a chance to change their minds, we pounced on one, immediately biting his head off, and his lifeless body fell to the ground.
“F-forgive m-me…I'm-i’m…” He stammered, as we went towards him, blood from his partner, dripping from my lips…disgusting!
But his plea fell on deaf ears as his body soon fell to the ground.
“We could've gotten something from him." King said, as I shifted back into my human.
I didn't get the chance to respond when I heard snarling and bones breaking behind me.
Instead of Dylan's brown eyes, red ones were staring back, as he stood in his wolf form baring his teeth at me.
King wanted to take over again but would be the end of Dylan if he did. He was still acting under the spell and the only person who could get him out of it was Elizabeth but she wasn't close.
“Dylan, snap out of it!" I said.
King snorted, "if that works, you should become a therapist for wolves who are on the verge of turning feral.” He said and I rolled my eyes.
The conversation ended as Dylan approached me, drawing his claws at me which I dodged. His eyes were wild, unfocused because of the spell. I circled around him, my fists flying in precise jabs, trying to wear him down without causing permanent harm. This went on for a while before he finally worked.
His responses became slow, his movements becoming more labored with each passing moment. I seized the opportunity and landed a swift kick, sending him crashing to the ground. As he lay there, his body began to shift, the werewolf form receding and he panted helplessly, just as Elizabeth arrived.
