Chapter 134
Kieran's POV
Kaia was still finding it hard coming to terms with the fact that the woman she knew all her life, who she mourned after her death wasn't her real mother and I couldn't blame her…no one could. Even though she argued that that was the only mother she had, it was obvious from her eyes how much she wanted to know about her birth parents.
And looking for information without knowing where to start from was harder than it looked.
The witch Katherine spoke about was delayed and that was the only clue we had. The records about the prophecy was something the Elders kept and bringing them into it when we weren't certain about anything was like a ticking bomb waiting to explode.
For some reason, they held their peace about Kaia's position but I didn't put it past them to blow things out of proportion.
“But we need answers!" King reminded me.
“We do, but we also need to make sure our mate can handle whatever comes with it."
He nodded, just as the door opened and my dad, who hadn't stepped a foot into the pack house since the day he left angrily, entered. And for someone who usually has an air of confidence around him, his expression said something else.
I pushed away the book I was reading on shield and what else it could do apart from healing. I rested my back against the chair.
“Dad." I greeted.
"I heard what happened,” he started, after responding to my greeting. "How is everyone? Your mate?" He asked.
Ryder had told me he was out of the pack…more like their house. He saw him leave just before Kaia mind-linked him about the package. And it was impossible for him to know about the attack and not join them.
“They're fine…Allie is fine.” I told him and he let out a deep breath. Since the incidence of them wanting her to be mated to someone she barely knew, she'd refused to talk to them and being my Dad's favorite, he missed her, but he deserved it.
“I haven't stopped thinking about your question." He said after a while, causing my brows to raise.
"Did you suddenly remember the mother of your other son now?” As much as my voice was light, his body tensed up.
"I don't have another son…your mother was the first woman I had sex with.” He replied and my face scrunched up in disgust, I didn't want to be hearing about his sex life.
"You are asking about his secret son…how do you think that happened? A divine conception?" King mocked and I rolled my eyes.
If he was saying the truth that only leaves my mom which sounded unbelievable considering they found each other quite early and there was no way she could've been pregnant without him knowing. But at this point, anything was possible.
“Why did you ask?"
For a brief moment, I hesitated telling him, but King convinced me that he could be of help.
So I played the video Caleb retrieved without saying a word. When it got to the part he needed to see, I paused it and there was no missing the way his jaw dropped, his eyes widened as he turned to me and then back at the video.
“That isn't possible…”
I scoffed, "The same thing I thought. But here we are."
He stared at the picture again, mixed emotions flashing on his face. The door swinging open put a pause to the question I was going to ask.
“Alpha, the prophecy isn't…” he paused, his eyes moving over to my Dad and then to the screen. "Alpha Tyler.”
"Prophecy? What prophecy?” He asked.
Caleb looked at me, asking for permission to go ahead and I gave him a small nod.
"Your mate? But she's an…this is amazing!" Ignoring his slip off, I got this point. As much as it was amazing, it was equally terrifying.
“The moon goddess really took her time with our mate." King bragged proudly.
Knowing the prophecy was a step, knowing the next step was another. “The prophecy didn't mention anything about her birth parents, did it?"
He shook his head, “but everyone believed it was the leader of the clan since he was the most powerful in all of them. And now that I think about it, the person who healed your…”
Whatever he was saying was interrupted when the door opened again and the woman of the hour entered. My hand immediately covered the book I previously pushed away as I offered her a smile, stretching my hand to her.
Her eyes darted to my Dad and Caleb who were looking at her like they were seeing her for the first time.
“Can you guys make it any more obvious?" I asked, through our mindlink, snapping them back to the present.
“What are you guys talking about? I can leave if you need to concentrate.”
I shook my head, pulling her to my laps and placing my hand on her stomach. Not one pup…but two. That is, if the prophecy was talking about this pregnancy.
“Kieran," she whispered. “Your Dad is here!" She murmured shyly, but at the same time, not taking my hand away.
“It's fine, I was just telling him about our baby…” I started and if it caught him by surprise, he did a good job hiding it. “And the Luna ceremony."
She nodded, "Are you going to be done soon? I want to rest my eyes a bit." She said, and even her voice sounded tired. The effect of the attack was taking a toll on her, she couldn't sleep without thinking that someone was coming for her.
And if that did anything to me, it was to quickly put an end to this.
