Chosen By The Moon (Dylan) novel Chapter 430

Dylan pov

Elias, Lewis's father, followed my every move from the safe haven back into the thick of the battle, I guess it was his turn to take on some action.

He shifted and began fighting instantly, while

I had paused my attacks for a simple moment to stare at the large moon, it lit the battle field tremendously making it easier to witness the growing bloodshed from each side. I watched as men and women fought ferociously, teeth were hitting teeth, claws were scraping both skin and fur, thunderous growls rang out and human screams could be heard from miles around. I felt sick to my stomach as the foul stench of death filled my nose.

The full moon continued to rise in the dark night sky, however not a single star could be seen as the war raged on. Blood soaked the large grassed area and screams, snarls and howls filled the air. I was on edge, my grip tightened on the knife that I had as I watched body's from both sides fall at my feet.

It was a slaughter, both lycans and humans were killing together, gun shots sounded throughout the clearing and knives and daggers were being thrown left, right and center. I took a deep breath before I too began to join in with the horror unfolding before me.

I had never felt fear like I did at that moment but seeing everyone fighting for the life they believed in brought pride to the forefront of my mind. There was nothing I could do but fight and pray that we would win and the bloodshed would end quickly. Although, I knew better than most that the only way to truly end the carnage completely would be to kill the king.

So, Without thinking about it, I let my legs launch themselves off the ground, and land on top of one of the kings fully formed warriors right before he managed to clamp his teeth around me. I wrapped my legs around its waist and looped my pistol around its neck to use as a clamp. Without missing a beat I lurched my body to the right taking down the wolf sideways with me on top of it. We both got up in haste and I readied my weapon.

Its teeth snarled at me which caused a small shudder of fear to shoot down my spine, not that it mattered. There were so many people risking their lives for me why shouldn't I do the same? Another minute of stalking each other went by before we finally charged at each other. I tumbled under its body as it jumped to pounce on me, and swung my knifes blade into its front leg hearing a satisfying crack and a small howl of pain.

It began to circle me, now with a limp as I slowly spun around in place, following the beasts every movement all the while keeping my weapons at the ready. It charged at me again and this time I twisted the dagger in my hand before swinging it and hitting the rogues snout. Blood instantly began pouring out onto the grass below, It's head snaped to the side from the impact, and a strangled animalistic sound of pain left its lungs. I had to admit, the strength I had been gifted was severely coming in handy.
