It was getting late, and Rosalie and Justin walked home hand in hand.
She suddenly felt mildly disappointed. Steve wasn't with her, and she really wanted to hug him.
"Rose, do you want to shower and turn in for the night?"
Rosalie nodded. They exchanged glances, as though they both had something to say.
Justin could sense her hesitation and said, "I can sleep in the room next door."
Rosalie mustered up the courage to say, "Let's sleep together. You don't need to sleep in another room."
They were already officially an item. Why was there a need for them to sleep separately?
Rosalie gently tugged at Justin's sleeve. "I'm going to take a shower. You should, too."
There were two washrooms in the apartment, one in Rosalie's room and another outside.
"Sure." Justin caressed her head and turned to leave.
Rosalie grabbed her pajamas and headed to the shower. She felt the warm water trickle down her body as she rinsed her face and torso clean.
She looked down at the stretch marks on her belly that felt soft yet coarse at the same time. She found it amusing to the touch and pinched them gently.
Rosalie chuckled to herself as she patted her belly.
Aside from Theodore, she had never been intimate with another man. It had been so long, she felt rather nervous.
She ran her fingers across her stretch marks once more.
Although she knew Justin surely wouldn't mind and that she shouldn't either, she wanted to look perfect during her first time with Justin.
These stretch marks were eyesores—but come to think of it, she shouldn't think of them that way. No one was perfect in this world and worrying about the imperfections of her body was akin to doubting her partner's love for her.
Justin wasn't someone so superficial.
Rosalie took a longer time to shower. After drying herself, she put on her pajamas and walked out of the shower.
Justin was already lying on the bed. He was done with his shower and all dressed in pajamas, too.
Rosalie approached him, feeling nervous. She threw off the sheets and sat next to him.
"Sure, I'll bring the phone to him." The butler took the phone to Steve's cot.
Steve was already asleep. The butler switched to video mode and when Rosalie saw Steve's sleeping face, she felt a strong urge to cry.
Justin hugged her immediately.
Rosalie said softly, "I'm done. Please take the phone out and don't wake Steve up."
"Yes, madam." The butler did as he was told.
Rosalie asked, "How is Theo?"
The butler said, "He isn't in a very good state emotionally, but I know he's getting over it."
"Please help me remind him to take care of himself. He can always call me if he needs any help."
"I will, madam."
After the call, Rosalie hung up and put her phone aside with a sigh. She felt troubled, but couldn't even begin to put her troubles in words.
