CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery novel Chapter 1822

Karina stood frozen in shock, just like everyone else.

She didn’t snap out of it until Wilfred gently pulled her aside, her cheeks glowing bright red.

Noticing her flushed face, Wilfred gave her a meaningful look and casually asked, “Why is your face so red? Are you running a fever?”

As he spoke, he reached out toward her forehead.

Karina panicked and quickly dodged him. She wasn’t sick. She just knew that if he touched her, her face would turn an even deeper shade of red.

“I’m fine. Maybe it’s just the heat and humidity,” she mumbled, fanning herself as if she were uncomfortably warm.

Wilfred watched her, clearly seeing through her little act but choosing to keep his amusement to himself.

He recalled Xavier’s suggestion to take the initiative. What a brilliant idea.

That evening, Karina put her skills to the test and prepared a platter of garlic butter crab. Wilfred happily indulged, eating several pieces with obvious enjoyment.

Wilfred quickly settled into his new role at the hospital, as if he had never left the profession. Familiar with the processes, he adapted effortlessly, impressing everyone with his competence.

A few days passed, and Karina was still anxiously waiting for her exam results. Instead, what she heard first—straight from Wilfred—was news about the hospital planning to fill the vacant deputy director position.

Hearing this, Karina glanced at Wilfred, pointing to herself in disbelief. “You’re not thinking of me, are you?”

“I am. I believe you’re capable,” Wilfred admitted without hesitation.

Karina wanted to say, “It’s not about what you think, it’s about what I think!”

But instead, she let out a helpless sigh. “I think you’re giving me way too much credit.”

She had worked incredibly hard and could feel her own progress, but effort wasn’t everything. In the medical field, experience and seniority mattered most. People who became directors or deputy directors were usually in their forties or fifties.

“The director’s vote might help, but it doesn’t guarantee anything,” she said, spreading her hands.

“I just can’t do it!” she thought to herself.

In the end, however, Wilfred made the final decision, his tone firm. “Whether you succeed or not, you should at least give it a shot.”

After some thought, Karina realized he had a point and didn’t argue further.

The news of her candidacy caused quite a stir at the hospital. Even Yvette came to ask if it was some kind of joke, not to mention the countless others who were curious.

In just a few days, even though the results were still far from being announced, no fewer than ten people had already come to Karina, trying to get information out of her.

She sighed, thankful that her office door was sturdy. Otherwise, it would have been trampled by now.

To everyone, she gave the same response, “I’m just trying it out. It’s fine if I don’t succeed.”
