”Those were her meticulously compiled notes, the result of hours of hard work—and now they were ruined just like that?” Karina thought.
“I’ve never wronged you. Why would you do something like this?” she demanded, her voice trembling with indignation.
Something about the situation felt off, and Karina’s sharp intuition told her this wasn’t a simple misunderstanding.
Under Karina’s intense gaze, the nurse finally broke down, revealing Ava’s role in orchestrating the whole thing.
Karina’s anger turned into a mix of rage and incredulous amusement. “Really? Rich people—did they all enjoy throwing money around like this?”
All this trouble, just to ruin her hard-earned work over a seat?
Her carefully compiled notes were gone, and there wasn’t a second copy. Arguing wouldn’t bring them back, but Ava wasn’t going to let this slide without giving someone a piece of her mind.
Finding Ava wasn’t difficult. In fact, Ava didn’t even try to avoid her. She seemed to be waiting, eager to see Karina’s reaction—a smug look plastered across her face.
Karina didn’t hesitate. She grabbed a glass of water and splashed it directly onto Ava’s face.
“Ahhh!” Ava shrieked, the sound echoing through the hall and immediately drawing the attention of everyone nearby. The audience consisted of students, admirers of Wilfred, and several notable figures in the industry.
Hearing the commotion, Wilfred immediately turned his head toward the commotion.
What he didn’t expect was for Karina to be at the center of it all.
Just as Ava, red-faced and furious, lunged toward Karina, Wilfred strode over in long, purposeful steps, placing himself protectively in front of her.
“What’s going on here?” he asked, glancing down at Karina, his tone calm but firm.
Karina didn’t even have a chance to respond before Ava pointed an accusatory finger at her and started shouting.
“This lunatic just threw water on me out of nowhere! She’s completely crazy!”
“Liar!” Ava spat, her face contorting with fury as she vehemently denied everything.
Karina smirked coldly. “Lying, am I? Let’s pull up the security footage and find out.”
The saying “Kindness is often mistaken for weakness” couldn’t have been more fitting.
In a place this big, there was no way there weren’t security cameras.
Wilfred nodded in agreement, his voice calm but firm. “Let’s check the footage.”
“No!” Ava quickly moved to block the idea.
Karina’s lips curled into a cold smile. “What’s the problem? Afraid the truth might come out?”
