CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery novel Chapter 1777

“Starting today, you’ll officially resume your position as my assistant. I trust you’ll adapt quickly,” Wilfred said firmly.

Karina’s eyes lit up with a hint of surprise. “Dr. Wilfred, really? I’ll do my best to fulfill the responsibilities of the assistant role.”

Wilfred stood up and walked over to her, giving her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “Familiarize yourself with the current work schedule and the relevant materials. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me. I have confidence in you.”

Karina hesitated, a trace of worry crossing her face. “But… I’m not sure this is a good idea.”

Wilfred already had an assistant. If Karina agreed to take the position, wouldn’t that make her a target for trouble from his former assistant?

And then there were all the people at the hospital who were infatuated with Wilfred.

Lately, she had already been spending more time with him, drawing enough attention as it was. If she officially became his assistant, she’d surely be torn apart by gossip and criticism.

Karina just wanted to cut ties with the Stone family and live a quiet, stable life.

Wilfred narrowed his eyes at her, his tone calm but pointed. “What’s so bad about it?”

“Dr. Wilfred, you know how popular you are at the hospital. If I take this position, your former assistant and, well, others might see me as a threat. I don’t want to become everyone’s enemy.”

“And aren’t you in need of money?” Wilfred cut her off, his piercing black eyes fixed on her.

“I am,” she admitted reluctantly. The Stone family was like a bottomless pit, constantly draining her, and she had no savings of her own. She desperately wanted to save up for her future.

Wilfred’s lips curled into a cool smirk. “If you need money, isn’t it better to earn it this way? An assistant is just an assistant. You have clinical experience, and I have a lot on my plate.”

“But…”

“Enough. Leave for now. I’ll handle everything,” Wilfred said, cutting her off again, clearly uninterested in hearing more.

Karina didn’t linger.

Three days later, Wilfred finally issued the official announcement.

As she expected, the reaction was swift. The hospital staff immediately labeled her a public enemy, particularly a certain female intern who sought her out.

“Well, well,” Sera sneered. “Who would’ve thought? Our dear Dr. Norman managed to snag the assistant position with the director himself. Tell me, have you spent all the money I gave you?”

Sera’s smile was cold and cutting, making Karina feel utterly humiliated. “I’ve been trying to complete what you asked me to do for Dr. Wilfred, but he found out. That money…”

Sera interrupted sharply. “I’m not asking for the same amount back—I want triple. Otherwise, forget about staying a doctor here.”
