If anything went wrong with the surgery, the hospital’s reputation would be ruined.
Christine looked exasperated. “Dr. Wilfred, your private line and office phone have been tied up all day. You wouldn’t believe how popular you’ve gotten…”
It wasn’t just interns crowding around his office anymore—there were patients, admirers, curious students, and even wealthy socialites hoping to catch his attention. Somehow, they had managed to get hold of his phone numbers, calling nonstop, day after day, leaving his lines perpetually tied up.
If this hadn’t been an emergency, Christine wouldn’t have dragged him here, let alone needed him to step in personally.
Dr. Wilfred wasn’t in the mood for any of it. Ignoring Christine’s rambling, he got up and strode toward the door. The moment he stepped out, the group of female interns watching him were frozen in place, their jaws practically hitting the floor.
“Wow… He’s so young and already running the hospital!”
“And so good-looking! I heard he’s single, too.”
“Can you imagine being held by someone like him? Those hands—those precise, skilled hands—perform surgeries like magic.”
“He even mentors students and reviews research papers. How can someone be this perfect?”
Their chatter escalated until someone dared to step right in his path.
“Dr. Wilfred!” a woman called out confidently. “If you choose me, I’ll fund as many hospitals as you want. I’ll make you the biggest name in Birkham’s medical world!”
Another woman interjected, desperate for his attention. “Don’t listen to her! I’m younger and more valuable. I’ll bring you more opportunities.”
“Get out of my way.”
Dr. Wilfred usually ignored these women, but this time, he was furious. A critical surgery was underway, and the situation was urgent.
Even though Christine had brought security, they still couldn’t keep the crowd under control.
Dr. Wilfred glanced at the woman assisting him and asked in a low voice, “What’s your name?”
With so many people in the hospital—patients, nurses, and even admirers—he rarely paid much attention to individual women.
Her clear, steady voice rang out, “Karina Norman.”
Dr. Wilfred’s brows furrowed slightly. “The Karina Norman? The one who’s consistently at the top, winning awards and outperforming everyone?”
He had heard her name mentioned during internal meetings over the past month. She had earned multiple bonuses and incentives.
Unfazed, Karina replied calmly, “That’s me.”
Dr. Wilfred’s focus sharpened, his thoughts returning to the present. “Get some rest. Come see me tomorrow. You’ll receive a commendation and a bonus for what you did today.”
