CEO Proposed to His Ex-wife 99 Times novel Chapter 322

After a while, Katherine inquired, “What did he ask about?”

Turning to look at her, Kyle answered, “He asked about how your relationship with Hector was, whether you were seeing each other a lot, whether you were nice to Hector, etc. etc. I wonder, though, why he didn’t ask about your relationship with me. Don’t the two of us look closer than you and Hex?”

“Exactly,” said Katherine as she turned her gaze away, “you never know with that guy what he’s thinking about.”

The car pulled over in front of a small yard in the suburbs, from which came loud noises of people yelling and screaming. As such, Kyle didn’t allow Katherine to exit the car. Instead, the two of them rolled down the window and inspected the yard from inside the car.

The gate to the yard was open, and what was happening was ready to be seen. Patrick and Alexis were inside, in addition to a couple of women. The women, apparently a team, were pointing a finger in Alexis’ face while they screamed at her, their language extremely vulgar. Judging by their looks, it seemed like a physical fight had already happened.

“What’s this about?” asked Katherine, frowning.

Kyle grinned. “Well, Alexis went clubbing last night and, maybe it was the excessive alcohol or maybe it was the nice ambiance, but anyway, she ended up getting here with some guy. This morning, she was caught by that guy’s girlfriend, and ooh – let’s just say that what happened next wasn’t a pretty sight. See how disheveled these people look? You missed the fights that broke out earlier – what a pity.”

“You did this?” asked Katherine, “nice! I didn’t expect this from you.”

Kyle chuckled. “Alexis isn’t a hard target to set up, so this just needed a little planning, et voilà!” Taking out his phone, he said, “I’ve got plenty of stock in here.”

Katherine knew full well what he meant, so she smirked. “That’s not very nice of you, is it?”

“Nope,” said Kyle in all honesty, “I am a petty and vengeful dude, so don’t nobody come messing with me.”

Inside the yard, another physical fight broke out after the screaming continued for a bit. Patrick Bennett, though able to help Alexis to a certain degree, couldn’t handle several angry women at once. Currently, his hair was all unkempt and his clothes were torn. At his side, Alexis wasn’t looking much better herself.

Katherine faced away from them. “They are just like the women from my village when they fight. Nothing new to see here.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw a car driving towards the yard. The doors to the car opened before it could properly come to a stop, and a group of people rushed out and headed straight for the yard.

Initially, Katherine took them for Kyle’s people, or the people of the alleged girlfriend. But when she saw Ariel Kingsey exiting the car, it all became clear. “If it isn’t her ladyship Mrs. Bennett,” said Katherine mock-excitedly.

Kyle grew angry at the sight of Ariel. “Fuck around and find out how I screw up your family, bitch.”

From the car window, Katherine saw that Ariel’s people had broken up the fight. When Alexis saw her mother and clansmen, she started jumping and yelling that she was not to blame for this situation since she herself was set up, too.

The women from the other team didn’t want to prolong the fight now that Alexis’ crowd grew bigger, so they left after some more cursing and screaming.

Ariel, however, was standing in front of Alexis when she suddenly slapped her daughter on the cheek. From Katherine’s perspective, it looked like a real slap, and it made Alexis stagger. Ariel then proceeded to say something to Alexis, who, covering her cheek with one hand, looked slightly horrified.

Katherine turned her gaze away. “That’s enough. I don’t think we need to see this mess anymore.”

Asking the chauffeur to start the car, Kyle chuckled. “Rest assured, my lady, that it’s only going to get better.”

Without further conversation, Katherine took the to-buy list Margaret had completed and went shopping. The malls and supermarkets in the neighborhood made shopping rather convenient for her. With Katherine out, Margaret was alone in the store to do the sweeping and cleaning.

Katherine decided to go to her destination on foot, since it was not far away. When she went past a crossing, she spotted a rather familiar car out of the corner of her eyes. She halted her walk to find that it was the vehicle of Frances Mason, the previous Mrs. Grant.

Katherine looked around her. Where she was standing was in fact pretty close to Grant & Co., so it was likely that Frances was here to have lunch with Marshall. But as Katherine inspected into the restaurants around her, she didn’t find anyone she knew.

Frances must have already divorced Mr. Grant, Katherine mused. And as a result, Katherine was somehow in the mood to meet with her as a fellow divorcee. Frances had always insisted that Katherine wasn’t good enough for the Grants. Well, look who else wasn’t good enough and got kicked out of the family now.

Perseverant, Katherine decided to ditch shopping and stroll around in her vicinity instead. When she finally found Frances, the latter woman was not dining with Marshall, no; she was dining with Mr. Grant.

Blinking, Katherine found Frances and Mr. Grant exiting the restaurant, so she quickly hid behind the car.

She couldn’t exactly tell what the older couple were saying in front of the restaurant, but she saw Frances nodding and looking down. Mr. Grant then said something before turning to leave, but Frances took the chance to hold onto his shirt. Mr. Grant turned back around, shot a glance at Frances’ hand, and pushed it away with resignation.

Katherine smirked. Oops, so they did divorce after all. How absolutely delicious.

Mr. Grant walked away and got into a car waiting for him outside, while Frances remained standing in front of the restaurant.

After Mr. Grant’s car pulled away, Katherine stood up and walked over smugly. “Mrs. Grant. Well, ain’t this a coincidence!”
