Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 95

Assistant Shaw kicked off his worn slippers, letting them fall to the floor before slipping on his shoes.

"Cousin…"

The silence in the room lasted only a heartbeat before a blood-curdling scream shattered it.

"Aaah—!"

Dominic's face was devoid of emotion as he slowly brought his foot down onto the man's hand, grinding it mercilessly against the floor.

"Tell me. Who contacted you?"

The man, shaking with pain, forced out a reply.

"It was Mr. Holloway, of course—"

His words were cut short by another jolt of agony as Dominic pressed harder, making him groan through clenched teeth.

Dominic finally lifted his foot, eyes narrowing as he glanced at the dislocated fingers now twisted at unnatural angles. He arched a brow, his voice cool and detached.

"What was that? I didn't quite catch it."

The man lying on the floor was deathly pale, the pain in his hand so intense he could barely move.

"It was Mr. Holloway. He… he'll make you pay for this," he spat out, still trying to sound tough.

Dominic's lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. Without a word, he kicked the man squarely in the chest.

The man's breath caught as he doubled over, gasping on the floor for several long moments. Just as he managed to suck in a shaky breath, Assistant Shaw stepped forward and delivered another hard kick.

The man nearly passed out from the blow.

"You—!"

Before he could recover, Assistant Shaw kicked him again, each strike harder than the last.

"All right, I'll talk, I'll—!"

She hadn't expected Benedict to actually take Zachary's advice and stoop to something this low against her.

Three years ago, just before Zachary's wedding, his wife had been in a terrible accident.

That night, Zachary was out drinking with Benedict and the others, ignoring the frantic calls from his wife begging for help. He never answered.

It was because of this that Cynthia had warned Benedict to stay away from Zachary.

After the accident, Zachary's wife all but disappeared from social life. With the authorities cracking down on corruption, her parents' businesses suffered too. In the end, they handed everything over to Zachary and devoted themselves to caring for their wounded daughter.

Zachary, meanwhile, wasted no time squandering the family fortune, flitting from party to party, woman to woman, while everyone around him turned a blind eye.

But could Mr. Whitaker—once the kingpin of Cloudcrest City's underworld—really bear to watch his own daughter endure such misery? Could he stomach Zachary's cruelty?

That day, when Zachary offered Benedict his so-called "advice," Cynthia overheard just enough to piece the truth together.

Zachary had shared his own "successful" methods with Benedict, teaching him how to manipulate and control her—hoping to keep Cynthia under his thumb.
