Dominic regarded her with a dark, unreadable gaze. After a few seconds, he lifted his hand and held up three long, elegant fingers.
Cynthia thought he was signaling “okay,” and a flicker of hope lit up her eyes.
But before she could enjoy that hope for long, Dominic spoke in his usual calm, even tone.
“Three months.”
“After our current contract ends, you’ll continue working at Holloway Enterprises for another three months. In return, I’ll introduce Juliet to a trustworthy agent.”
The excitement in Cynthia’s eyes vanished instantly.
Three months. Ninety days.
Not long, but not exactly short, either.
She hesitated.
Dominic didn’t rush her. He waited, and then added casually, “Remember, the three months start *after* our current contract expires.”
He seemed worried she might miss the key point, so he emphasized again: the three months would begin only once their existing agreement ended.
Having a reliable agent to help Juliet manage her affairs was a solid deal—no matter how she looked at it.
Cynthia took a deep breath, nodded, and agreed.
“All right.”
Then, a little more cautiously, she asked, “Once I’ve wrapped up things here at VistaSphere Group, can I request to finish those three months at Holloway Enterprises’ main office?”
She wanted to be closer to Juliet.
Dominic raised an eyebrow and replied, his tone level, “There aren’t any roles at headquarters that suit your skill set.”
Hearing this, Cynthia’s expression fell.
No openings at headquarters meant she’d have to stay at VistaSphere Group.
It wasn’t the end of the world, but right now, all she wanted was to get back to The Capital.
Her disappointment was obvious. Dominic glanced at her, his look cool and detached.
They arrived at the airport.
Cynthia and Dominic entered through the VIP access, making their way inside. Their flight was delayed, so they were shown to the lounge to wait.
As they stepped into the lounge, they ran into Viola, who was just arriving as well.
The moment Viola caught sight of Dominic, her eyes lit up and she made a beeline for him.
“Nick, are you headed to Cloudcrest City too?”
She acted as if Cynthia wasn’t even there, directing her question solely at Dominic.
Dominic didn’t even glance her way. Instead, he walked straight over to a seat and sat down.
An awkward look flickered across Viola’s face. When she caught Cynthia’s half-amused, half-indifferent expression, her jaw tightened, and she hurried to claim the seat beside Dominic.
Just as she was about to sit, Dominic shot her a sharp, icy look.
Viola froze, caught awkwardly between sitting and standing, not sure what to do next.
