Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 128

Juliet felt a pulse of tension between her brows.

"Tomorrow, you'll go interview at Holloway Enterprises," she said. "In three days, I'll throw you a welcome-back party and invite all the old-money families in the Capital. You spent seven years in Cloudcrest City—find a way to get Dominic to assign you to the Cloudcrest branch."

Cynthia listened quietly, quickly grasping her sister's intentions.

She was amazed Juliet had come up with a plan so quickly.

"Sis, are you sure you're not drunk?"

Juliet gave a soft hum of affirmation.

After all these years, her mind had learned to stay sharp—even after a few drinks.

She reached out and ruffled Cynthia's hair, her voice unexpectedly gentle. "I'll make sure your welcome party is a grand affair. It's about time the Tremaines had some excitement again."

Cynthia nodded, accepting it all. "I'll do whatever you say."

Juliet tilted her head, leaning against her affectionately. "Pumpkin, I don't care what it takes—I'll make sure Tremaine Holdings stays in our hands."

Cynthia let out a half-mocking, half-playful sigh. "Grandpa left Tremaine Holdings to you, not me. You were always the heir he carefully raised. If I managed to run it into the ground, he'd probably climb out of his grave just to yell at me."

"I just want to be your right-hand woman. That's enough for me."

Juliet chuckled softly, not answering. But at the corner of her eye, a tear slipped down.

Cynthia kept her arms wrapped around Juliet, her voice low and sincere as she apologized. "I'm sorry, Sis. I promise I won't be so reckless anymore."

Juliet nodded lightly. "You really can't afford to be. If you disappear for another ten years, I might not be here to see you come back."

Cynthia quickly pressed her hand over Juliet's mouth. "Don't talk like that."

Juliet looked at her with a quiet peace, gently pulling Cynthia's hand away. "You've been on a plane all day—you smell awful. Go shower."

She really was exhausted, and soon after, her eyes closed.

Cynthia, on the other hand, was far too wired to sleep. She lay on her side, facing Juliet, inching closer.

"Juliet…" she whispered tentatively.

Juliet didn't answer, just frowned in her sleep.

Still undeterred, Cynthia tried again, "Sis, are you asleep?"

Juliet, thoroughly exasperated, muttered, "Say another word and I'll kick you back to your own room."

Cynthia shrank back. "Okay."

That night, despite Cynthia's endless chattering, Juliet slept better than she had in a long while.
