Joanna was shocked, then erupted in an angry shout. "Housekeeper, how could you get caught doing something so simple? I gave you so much money, and you haven't given me a single useful piece of information. Instead, you get yourself discovered?"
She was planning to use the housekeeper to frame Natalie.
If it weren't for her pregnancy and the surgery, which delayed her plans, Natalie would have already been thrown to the wolves by now.
Natalie's life was going so well now. Why was nothing going right for her?
"Ms. Scott, the old madam said she found evidence. I don't know what it is, but she's going to have the police arrest me. What do I do now? You're the one who told me to do everything."
The housekeeper was now pinning everything on Joanna.
Joanna thought for a moment, then said, "Look, if the police are coming for you, it's probably because you stole the old madam's jewelry. Return everything you stole, put it all back. When the police arrive, just make an excuse…"
The housekeeper listened to Joanna's advice, thinking she was clever, but it was already too late.
"Joanna, I hear you, but it’s too late. I’ve already sold most of the jewelry. I've already spent the money…" the housekeeper's voice was barely a whisper.
Joanna was furious. The idiot. So greedy.
"Housekeeper, I've known you for years, and you're just insatiable, aren't you? Is there no limit to your greed? You stole a fortune in jewelry. Do you have any idea how many lifetimes you'll spend behind bars for that? But as long as you don't leave any leverage against yourself, you can be safe.
"Remember, don't say I ordered you to do anything. Otherwise, your son might spend the rest of his life in prison. I have dirt on your son, so you'd better think carefully before you speak.
"I've told you what to do. Whether you succeed is up to you. I'll help protect your son. Are you going to sacrifice yourself to protect him, or will you both go down together? Think about that before you say anything."
Joanna threatened her coldly. She knew the housekeeper cared most about her son.
On the other end of the line, Joanna's eyes widened in disbelief.
She never thought she'd be threatened by the housekeeper. It was always her doing the threatening.
She had always been the dominant one, used to controlling the situation and using threats to get her way.
But now, the tables had turned, catching her completely off guard.
"Housekeeper, I never realized you could be so shameless. You dare to threaten me like this?" Joanna's voice was a furious hiss.
The housekeeper chuckled. "Ms. Scott, when dealing with someone as manipulative as you, I naturally had to be careful. Sebastian may dote on you, but he has no intention of marrying you."
