She watched Sebastian Griffith’s retreating figure, her brow furrowed slightly. So, Sebastian had insisted on following her last night because he was afraid she’d get hurt?
Natalie Sanders gave a self-deprecating smile. If something happened to her, their agreement would be void. Of course Sebastian wouldn't want to see a prize so close to his grasp slip away.
Natalie took a deep breath and didn't dwell on it.
Seeing that Marshall Spencer was about to wake up, she quickly left. After all, a man and a woman alone together could easily lead to misunderstandings. She had only stayed last night because Marshall wasn't fully conscious.
Just as Natalie left, Marshall opened his eyes. He smiled to himself; Natalie had been shy.
But he was also terrified. In his dream, Joanna Scott had men break his legs and chop off his arms before throwing him into the ocean. He remembered the date clearly—it was last night.
He had died on November 27th, in the winter.
Moreover, a terrifying man had appeared in the dream, standing with his back to him.
Who was that man?
The whole experience felt surreal and horrifying.
Joanna had smiled venomously as she told him the truth. “Marshall, you idiot. All it took was a few little tricks to make your entire Spencer family mine. A family with a hundred-year legacy, and it all ended with you.”
“You were such a good, obedient dog, bullying whoever I told you to. It’s almost a shame to have to kill you.”
“But what I’d miss even more is your family’s fortune. When you die, your grandmother will have already died from anger. Your father’s car accident abroad a few years ago? I arranged that too. Now only your mother is left. I’ll find an excuse to send her to hell to join you.”
“Do you know who I hate the most? Natalie. Every time you saw her, you helped me bully her, making her terrified of you.”
“And you, you absolute moron. Natalie warned you, despite everything, to be careful of me, that I was no good. But no matter what she said, you never believed her. You only trusted me. Such a loyal dog.”
She had kicked his bloody body.
