He grew even angrier. He was finally getting a taste of how she must have felt when he abandoned her to flirt with Joanna.
Joanna looked at Sebastian, her eyes pleading for help. If she was thrown out of here, her reputation would be ruined. This Mrs. Wilson was doing it on purpose.
Her gaze was a desperate appeal. “Sebastian, what my mother did has nothing to do with me. Please,” she begged.
She spoke in a near whisper. It had been a long time since she had begged anyone for anything.
She looked at Sebastian expectantly, but his handsome face was devoid of any emotion.
In fact, his eyes had become completely unfamiliar.
Sebastian turned to Joanna. “Ms. Scott, your mother made a mistake. You should take her home and help her reflect on it. Mrs. Wilson doesn't want you here anyway.”
Joanna was stunned.
Even his answer was so dismissive?
Sebastian’s lips curved into a slight smirk. “Mr. Scott, aren’t you going to escort them out?”
Nathan had already lost all face. He didn’t want to stay a moment longer and never wanted to attend an event like this again.
He was a man who valued his pride, but his pride was a hollow thing. He was hopelessly poor.
Without Wendy, he would have spent his life in obscurity, living paycheck to paycheck.
But now, looking back, what had he made of his life?
Without Wendy, he was nothing.
He shot a cold look at his wife and daughter. “Aren’t you leaving? Do you want to stay here and embarrass yourselves further? If you want to stay, stay by yourselves.”
With that, Nathan strode away. He wasn’t about to be thrown out by Mrs. Wilson’s security guards.
Joanna gave Sebastian one last, wounded look before turning and leaving.
