He had been gone for almost a year, and he suffered from insomnia.
He hadn't had her tea in all that time and missed the taste terribly.
Now, he had to admit it: you don't know what you have until it's gone.
He finally understood how to cherish her, but he felt he was losing her.
Their marriage certificate was the only piece of paper tying them together.
And until he uncovered the full truth, he wouldn't let go.
Natalie's heart clenched with a sharp pain. She remembered those two years, how desperately she had wished he would just look back at her. Tears welled in her eyes, and she quickly wiped them away. "Sebastian, when you and Joanna were together, it was all about romance, money, and being spoiled. Marrying you was me being completely blind."
Sebastian was already unbuttoning his shirt.
He paused at her words, his gaze falling on her tear-streaked face. A dull ache spread through his chest.
He said, "If that's the kind of relationship you want, then that's what we'll have from now on."
"No! Who wants to be in a relationship with you? Did I say I wanted that? That's what Joanna likes. You should just marry her and stop tormenting me," Natalie retorted.
"But I didn't even hold her hand.. Why won't you believe me?" Sebastian had finished unbuttoning his shirt. He knew she wouldn't believe him anyway.
Natalie kept her head down, avoiding his gaze. His words were laughable. "Sebastian, it takes two to tango. You're both disgusting."
Sebastian took a deep breath. He was in the wrong, so he had to endure it.
"Natalie, I'm tired," he said with a yawn, and headed for the bathroom.
Natalie watched him move about so freely, as if this really were his home.
She quickly grabbed her phone and found Joanna's number.
But then she hesitated. If Joanna knew she lived here, she'd surely come looking for trouble all the time.
