Jerome felt a great deal of sympathy for him after hearing his story.
“Zack, please accept my condolences, and take good care of your little girl. You have a kind heart—I’m sure your child will grow up to be someone remarkable. I truly believe that.”
“Of course. My youngest is first in her class, she’s brilliant. Her sister was first in her class too. Both of my children only ever shared good news with us, never the bad. They were both so wonderful. I’m working hard to save money for my daughter’s university education. She’s going to be a judge and find the person who hurt her sister.”
Zack’s eyes filled with tears. His daughter had been so exceptional. Even now, years later, he still couldn't believe she would take her own life.
Jerome remained silent. After being crippled, he understood more and more the hardships of life.
His father not only wanted to raise them to be useless, but even more terrifyingly, he wanted them dead.
He took a deep breath. Getting back on his feet would be no easy task.
The thought that Natalie was a skilled doctor, having even cured Mr. Herbert’s cousin, came to mind. He clenched his fists. What right did he have to ask Natalie for surgery?
Natalie wouldn't even acknowledge him when she saw him.
She had completely given up on her brothers.
He was the one who had hurt her so deeply. Now, he couldn't even take care of himself.
If it wasn't for his mother's help, he would have starved to death on the streets by now.
His mother had said she’d cut ties with them, but she still sent him fifty thousand a month for living expenses, which was how he could afford to hire Zack as his caregiver.
But if he wanted to stand on his own again, first, he had to be able to stand on his own two feet.
He took a deep breath. His only choice was to beg Natalie to perform the surgery.
At thirty years old, he wanted to start his life over.
