“Oh?” Natalie raised an eyebrow, a happy glint in her eyes. “When I called you earlier, your uncle Yves wanted to give me that land in exchange for me letting his son go.”
Marshall grew tense. He had been targeted so much lately that he was constantly on edge.
He was dressed in a white jacket and light-colored jeans, looking refined and carefree.
He asked worriedly, “Natalie, what are you going to do? Are you really going to let him go?”
Natalie shook her head. “Letting him out of jail isn't the same as letting him off the hook. Even if he’s released, with his impulsive temper, he’ll just commit another crime.”
“But his mention of the Westwood Hills land reminded me of something. There's an ancient tomb under that property, so it can never be developed. Whoever buys it is in for a world of trouble. That’s why I want you to sell it to Joanna.”
“Joanna wants to get into real estate too. She had her eye on the land I bought from Taylor.”
“Since she couldn't get that one, she's now targeting Westwood Hills. If I'm not mistaken, in about two weeks, the government will announce plans for the area, and that land will be included in the new zoning.”
“I’m not lying to you. You should sell that land as soon as possible.”
“What…” Marshall’s eyes widened in shock. “Natalie, what has my family done to deserve this? Why are we having such bad luck?”
“It seems like we’re being targeted from every direction.”
Natalie smiled. “Marshall, it's because the wicked in this world are truly wicked, and people with pure intentions are rare. As long as you keep your eyes open, they can’t hurt you.”
Marshall was stunned. “Natalie, how do you know there’s an ancient tomb there?”
Natalie smiled. “I've researched the local history, and I asked Queena about it.”
Natalie knew Marshall trusted Queena's word, especially after she had saved his father's life.
“Marshall, things are starting to look up. Your father is fine, and you will be too. Your grandmother is healthy, your mother is happy, and your sister is doing well abroad. Everything is fine.”
It was the only way she could comfort him.
She knew the outcome from her past life, but she didn't know the details of what had happened between Marshall and Joanna.
Marshall frowned. He had a feeling it was more than just a dream. In his nightmare, the pain was agonizing, and he could hear a woman’s vicious voice. “Marshall, you idiot, you’re just a fool! Everything the Spencer family has is mine now, haha…”
The voice was venomous, utterly evil.
Marshall shook his head, trying to clear it. Perhaps he really was overthinking things. “Natalie, I understand. We’ll all be fine.”
“About the land you mentioned, tell Joanna I’ll be auctioning it off. I want her to pay the highest possible price for that land, only to end up with nothing.”
