Joanna was stunned by his words. In all these years, Sebastian had never spoken to her like that.
She burst into tears. “Sebastian, how could you say that to me? I only heard it from Lennon. Natalie refused to save Lennon! She had fifty million for land but couldn’t spare one million to save my brother. If it weren't for you, something terrible would have happened to him. She's ruthless and malicious, Sebastian. Don't let her fool you.”
Sebastian's lips twisted into a cold smirk. “Malicious?”
He turned and walked away.
Leaving a dumbfounded Joanna in his wake.
“Sebastian.”
Joanna ran after him. “The Spencers are offering the Westwood Hills land in exchange. Haven't you always wanted that property?”
Sebastian remembered what Natalie had said, and his desire for the land instantly vanished.
“Joanna, if you want that land, I could do you a favor.” Natalie’s cool voice suddenly cut in from behind them.
Joanna turned to see Natalie standing in the cold wind. A faint, mischievous smile played on her exquisite face. Though it looked a bit suspicious, Joanna was more interested in the land Natalie was offering.
She smiled. “Natalie, what do you mean by that?”
Could it be that she still wanted to be accepted back into the Scott family, so she was making a gesture of goodwill?
Natalie's deepest desire was for family affection. Joanna had always known this, which was why she consistently targeted her greatest vulnerability.
Watching Natalie secretly wipe away tears over the past two years had brought her immense satisfaction.
Natalie would always be a loser in her eyes.
Natalie walked toward them with a smile. Seeing the tears on Joanna’s face, she glanced at Sebastian. “Well, well, Mr. Griffith. Did you make your first love cry? Look at her, so pitiful and delicate. It really tugs at the heartstrings.”
Sebastian frowned at her. “What are you doing here? You're injured, shouldn't you be resting?”
Natalie was speechless for a moment.
“Are you and Maxwell close?” Natalie asked with a smile.
Her injured arm throbbed with a dull pain. She had finished her work and decided to take a walk, only to run into these two.
She'd arrived just in time to hear Joanna's words. So, Sebastian really did want the Westwood Hills land.
“Not at all. Natalie, I’m just trying to help Sebastian,” Joanna explained with a smile.
“Oh, for his sake? But why should I help a cheating lowlife like him? Besides, Yves doesn’t have the final say on that land. The decision rests with Marshall.”
“Yves' offer was just a bluff. If you want it, I can get Marshall to sell it to you.”
She suspected Sebastian was finally seeing through some of Joanna's schemes.
That would explain his strange behavior lately, and his reluctance to divorce. She needed these two to stay entangled so she could finally get her divorce and live her own life.
She had always been an adrenaline junkie, drawn to things like racing, motorcycles, and diving. Those were the things she loved.
