“Sophia, we have to wait a little longer. Wendy’s company is in trouble, burdened with hundreds of millions in debt. Our daughter is already working on acquiring it. Once she does, we can make a clean break.”
Sophia froze, staring at him in shock. “She’s in debt? How is that possible? Wendy is so good at business. How did she suddenly fall into debt? She’s been acting crazy every time she sees me lately. Do you think she suspects something?”
Nathan shook his head. “No, she was suspicious before, but I’ve already put her mind at ease. Ceryn Corp. suddenly pulled their investment, and business has been tough lately, so Wendy’s company couldn’t hold on.”
“Next, she'll sell off the real estate her parents left her at a low price. Our daughter will then buy it up cheap, and the entire Don family fortune will be ours. Our daughter and son are the truly brilliant ones.”
“As for those four fools, they’re either dead or injured. They’re no longer a threat to us.”
Sophia sneered. “I’ve waited over twenty years for this day.”
“Sophia, you’ve suffered all these years. But don’t worry, from now on, our lives will only get better.”
Sophia smiled triumphantly. “And we have Wendy to thank for that. If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t be living such a happy life. That stupid woman is still out there making money for us.”
“Hmph! That stupid woman is so in love with me. If I throw a little tantrum, she feels so guilty that she’ll buy me a hundred-thousand-dollar watch the next day. A few sweet words, a few compliments, and she’s moved to tears.”
Nathan hugged her tightly, feeling a genuine sense of guilt. He really did owe Sophia.
Because of his poor background, he had been forced to feign devotion to Wendy, dragging her family along as he climbed the ladder.
His eyes filled with remorse. “Sophia, I’m the one who wronged you. I married another woman and made you live in the shadows for so many years, even bearing my children. Don’t worry, I will never fail you again. Now that the eldest and Jared are taken care of, next is Colin. Colin and Benson have basically been raised to be useless. We’re close to success. Joanna is doing very well right now, so we must act discreetly and not hold her back.”
Colin, who had heard everything from a distance, was so enraged he nearly rushed over to beat Nathan. He was a freeloader, and a shameless one at that, planning to murder his own four sons. The man was a monster.
