Natalie yanked her arm free.
“Talk to me,” Sebastian said, his voice low.
“About what? Are you here to defend your precious first love? Sebastian, I believe I told you that the only thing I’m willing to discuss with you is our divorce. As for tonight, you were there. I did nothing wrong. The only ones at fault are you and your pack of heartless wolves.”
She opened the car door and slid in. Luna sped away.
Sebastian let out a heavy sigh. When had it become so difficult for them to have a simple conversation? He remembered the two years of their marriage, how they had lived in quiet respect. She had cared for him meticulously, occasionally trying to tell him a joke. But he had never found them funny, and eventually, she had stopped trying.
He stared into the deep, dark night, his eyes as inscrutable as the shadows.
“Well, well, Mr. Griffith. Not off comforting your girlfriend?” Marshall’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “Your father-in-law made quite a fool of himself tonight. The whole city will be talking about it by morning.”
His roguish eyes narrowed. “I don’t get you. When Natalie was in trouble, you said nothing, just stood by and protected Joanna. Yet you let Joanna parade around as your mistress while refusing to divorce Natalie. You really want to have your cake and eat it too, don’t you?”
He thought he was a player, but Sebastian was on another level of scum.
“This is between my wife and me. It has nothing to do with you,” Sebastian said coldly before striding away.
Marshall watched his retreating back and sneered.
