“Or maybe,” Yvonne continued, “Natalie saw Mr. Wilson showing Joanna favor and got jealous, so she decided to sleep with some man to cause a scene. She’s always been that shameless.”
Luna sneered. “Yvonne, we both know who the shameless one is. The bastard in your belly is all the proof anyone needs.”
Luna’s phone vibrated. She turned and walked away. Her part in the little drama was over.
Yvonne froze, stunned. What did that woman mean?
Joanna watched Luna’s retreating back, her eyes burning with fury. That woman was Natalie’s assistant. She had deliberately blocked them.
“Mr. Wilson,” Joanna said, her voice trembling, “I’m so sorry. She has always been unruly. If she has truly done something terrible, I beg you to have mercy on her.”
Dressed in a soft pink gown, she looked utterly harmless and beautiful. Mr. Wilson’s heart softened with pity. It must have been difficult for her, having an adopted sister like that.
“Joanna, you are far too kind,” he said. “Let’s go and see. If it really is that girl, I will not let her off lightly.”
This was exactly what Joanna had been waiting for.
The group moved forward like a wave, all eager for a bit of drama. When they reached the door, the servant tried the handle, but it was locked. From inside, however, the unmistakable sounds of a man and woman echoed into the hallway.
The guests’ expressions soured.
“Mr. Wilson…” Joanna whispered, her eyes wide with feigned horror.
