Natalie couldn't understand why Sebastian suddenly wanted to investigate the past. "What, did your boss hear me say that Joanna and Yvonne set Jerome up, and now he's scrambling to find the 'truth' to clear Joanna's name?" Her first instinct was that Sebastian was trying to protect Joanna, just as he always had.
Sean sighed. In Natalie's eyes, Sebastian was the worst kind of scumbag.
"Sean," Natalie continued, "tell Sebastian that I have evidence from that night. When the time is right, I'll release it myself. He should start thinking about a strategy now for how he's going to save his precious girlfriend." With that, she hung up.
Sean stared at his phone in disbelief. That wasn't what he meant at all. He hadn't even finished his sentence.
"What did she say?" Sebastian's cold voice cut through his thoughts.
Sean looked up at Sebastian's expectant face and relayed the message helplessly. "Ms. Sanders said she has evidence, and that if you plan on covering for Joanna, you should prepare your strategy in advance."
Sebastian stared at Sean, his hands clenching at his sides. "She really said that?" This woman was playing hard to get, trying to grab his attention with these games.
